The Municipality of Pateros assisted by Provincial Nutrition Focal Point (PNFP) Diana Umali of NNC-NCR conducted an orientation for the 71 caregivers of the beneficiaries of the Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program (TK-DSP) Phase 4 on June 17, 2022.
Caregivers from Brgys. Aguho and Sta. Ana were given details on TK-DSP Phase 4 by Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinator (MNPC) Meizl Sincuya and PNFP Umali. Their commitments were also obtained during the activity through a consent form.
Barangay Captain Omar Alcantara of Brgy. Aguho also attended the orientation to share a message of support to the program and encourage the beneficiaries to participate actively during the implementation of TK-DSP Phase 4 in Pateros to improve the nutritional status of their babies.
TK-DSP is an initiative of the National Nutrition Council as part of its COVID-19 response which aims to contribute to the reduction of hunger and prevention of stunting in children in the first 1000 days (F1K).
A total of 100 stunted and/or wasted children 6-23 months old from the municipality will receive daily food supplementation of hot meals on weekdays and DOST-FNRI dry commodities on weekends for 180 days. Recipes used on the cycle menu for the preparation of the hot meals follow the Pinggang Pinoy and the Guidelines for Dietary Supplementation Program.
The commodities for the hot meals will be supplied by the partner ARBO, Cruzian Multipurpose Cooperative, from Pampanga. The program is expected to start this year.
