The National Nutrition Council – NCR (NNC-NCR) enjoins everyone to participate in the celebration of the 48th Nutrition Month with the theme, “New normal na nutrisyon, sama-samang gawan ng solusyon!”.
Nutrition Month is celebrated every July by virtue of Presidential Decree (PD) No. 491 to create greater awareness on the importance of nutrition. The law also designates the National Nutrition Council as lead of the celebration of the Nutrition Month.
This year, the NNC-NCR prepared both online and face-to-face activities as part of the month-long celebration. Face-to-face activities were planned following safety health protocols:
- Digital Nutrition Month Launch: “Fast Talk with NPC Mila Federizo”, July 1
- Announcement of Nutrition Month Theme and regional activities during the flag raising ceremony of the Metro Manila Center for Health Development (MMCHD), July 4
- Promotional Video: “Mars! Pars! Anong latest?”, July 7
- Online Information Sharing Session: Creating a Better New Normal through Good nutrition, July 11
- Regional Webby Awards, July 18 (Judging of entries)
- Essay Writing Contest, July 21 (Judging of entries)
- Simultaneous Promotional Event on the Nutrition Month Theme, July 22
- Vlog Contest for Barangay Nutrition Committees, July 25 (Judging of entries)
- Culminating Activity, July 29
As Metro Manila is still under COVID-19 Alert Level 1, the NNC-NCR, as part of its digital campaign, also prepared these activities to maximize the available digital platforms: (1) Countdown videos, (2) posting of video greetings of local chief executives, nutrition action officers, regional Association President, heads of Regional Nutrition Committee member agencies and regional SUN Network Convenors, (3) conduct of online contest: Nutrition Facts Series, and (4) posting of infographics featuring nutrition programs, projects, and activities of sectoral partners. Posts of local government units, member agencies and partners regarding their Nutrition Month activities will also be shared on the NNC-NCR Facebook page.
