The National Nutrition Council – NCR (NNC-NCR) assisted the City of Manila and Quezon City in the formulation of their Local Nutrition Action Plan (LNAP) 2023-2025 during the workshop held on September 27-30, 2022 at The Bayleaf Cavite.
The City of Manila and Quezon City are among the program areas of the Nutrition Shepherding Project of the Regional Nutrition Committee of NCR. Selected members of the city nutrition committees (CNC) of the two (2) cities served as the planning core groups.
During the workshop, the two (2) cities were able to review and assess the adequacy of nutrition integration in their city's comprehensive development plan (CDP), draft a substantive nutrition situational analysis, set outcome targets and plan appropriate programs, projects and activities with budgetary requirements.
In her message during the opening program, NNC-NCR Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Milagros Elisa Federizo reminded the group that everything starts with a good plan. She hopes that the workshop will be productive and useful for the LGUs to implement a better, comprehensive, and responsive local nutrition program anchored on the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition. The workshop was facilitated by NPC Federizo together with Nutrition Officer III Emerenciana Francia and Development Management Officer II Theresa Rivas.
The two (2) cities are expected to conduct post-workshop meetings with their respective CNCs to finalize their LNAP for CY 2023-2025 and present the plan to the Mayor as CNC Chair for approval. The approved LNAP 2023-2025 should be integrated to the CDP and Annual Investment Program.
