Honorable Mayor Anastacia R. Vistan and the members of the municipal nutrition committee (MNC) of Plaridel in Bulacan welcomed the members of the City/District Nutrition Program Coordinators Association of Metro Manila and the Regional Management Group of NCR headed by NNC-NCR Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, Ms. Milagros Elisa V. Federizo, during their Lakbay-Aral on November 3, 2011.

Mayor Vistan personally shared their good practices in the implementation of their nutrition programs and projects both at the municipal and barangay levels which earned them their Nutrition Honor Award in 2010. The NCR delegates were impressed with the leadership of the Mayor and the unity and cooperation of the MNC members. Among the nutrition programs and innovative strategies shared by Mayor Vistan were “Gatas ni Nanay, Kay Baby Alay”, “Operation Family Nutrition”, “Anti-Junk Food Campaign”, “Dugo mong kay Putla, Ferrous Sulfate ang Bahala”, school and community gardening, and the establishment of Nutri-Home and Nutri-Store.

After the presentation on the nutrition program and an interactive session with Mayor Vistan and members of the MNC, the NCR delegates were given a tour to the barangays to see innovative projects like Nutri-Home in Barangay Tabang, Nutri-store in Barangay Bintog, “Oh my Gulay Store” in Barangay San Jose and the bag-making livelihood project in Barangay Culianin.

The one-day lakbay-aral was truly a learning and enjoyable experience for the Lakbay-Aral participants as they went home inspired by the leadership of the Mayor as Chair of the nutrition committee, the commitment and cooperation of the MNC members, the innovativeness of their nutrition strategies and the support provided by the barangay officials and the people of Plaridel, Bulacan.
