The City Nutrition Program Coordinators (CNPCs) in the NCR held its first meeting for the year on January 27, 2012 at the Health Studio 1, Marikina Healthy City Health Office. Among those discussed during the meeting were the mechanics and schedule of the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI), theme and activities for Nutrition Month, and the implementation of Operation Timbang Plus this year as well as the OPT Database Management System (OPT-DBMS).
Some CNPCs raised concerns and issues particularly on the availability and fabrication/purchase of the wooden height boards which remain to be a challenge in many LGUs. Clarifications were also made regarding the correct usage of the OPT-DBMS. Despite the various problems and difficulties encountered by the LGUs, RNPC Federizo commended the local NPCs for their perseverance in trying to resolve issues and finding solutions to their problems concerning the use of both height/length and weight as indicators of growth starting this year. She encouraged them to give their best in making this year's OPT a successful one.
The officers of the Association of C/DNPCs of Metro Manila led by its President, Ms. Eileen Guevara, also discussed and outlined their various activities for 2012 which include among others the conduct of the yearly teambuilding activity, "lakbay-aral", technical updates, annual regional convention and the renewal of their registration in the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC).
The LGUs were also mobilized for the "MDG-F 2030 Run for Breastfeeding!". They were also informed of the forthcoming regional activities such as the IYCF Feedback Workshop and a special event on IYCF on March of this year.
After the meeting of the Association, a short meeting with CNPCs who are authors of the IYCF Good Practices was also done to finalize the 3rd draft of the articles for compendium," Promoting IYCF, the NCR Way: Good Practices on Infant and Young Child Feeding in National Capital Region". This is part of the local media campaign of NNC-NCR.
