The Federation of Barangay Nutrition Scholars in Region IV-A (FBNS-IVA) held its first meeting for the year on February 4, 2016 at the National Nutrition Council Central Office in Taguig City. The discussion focused on the 2015 accomplishments and plans for 2016.
One of the main concerns discussed was the federation’s SEC (Security and Exchange Commission) registration, along with the proposed benefits to be received by the members of the federation. In particular, the group proposed for the passage of a resolution for the mortuary and medical benefits for the members, the amount of which will be dependent on the funds to be collected and/or raised this year. Election of officers will be on February 2017, thus it was agreed that a resolution will be passed requesting the Provincial and City BNS Associations to also hold their elections in 2017, prior to the regional federation’s election. It was also agreed that honorary members have voting powers but they cannot be elected. A regional BNS Congress is tentatively scheduled on October 7, 2016 that will be attended by all the officers of the Provincial and City associations, with a registration fee of Php 500.00. Theme and venue for the congress is still for open for suggestions. The federation also plans to conduct “Lakbay-Aral” for the Officers and Board at the Fidel Iodized Salt farm in Bolinao, Pangasinan, and at an LGU in Region I. NPC Santiago also announced that BNS ID will be a project of the regional office just as long as the database of BNS will be updated. Lastly, the next FBNS meeting was set in March 2016 in Pangil, Laguna to discuss plans for the the raffle ticket distribution, one of their resource generation activity.
