Nutrition Action Officers from provinces and cities all over Calabarzon convened last February 9, 2016 for their first P/CNAOs and NAOPA Calabarzon Chapter meeting at the National Nutrition Council Central Office in Taguig City.
The meeting involved discussion about the 2015 OPT Plus Results wherein there was very poor coverage for most of the provinces and cities. In this regard, NPC Santiago encouraged everyone to put more effort in improving the coverage of the OPT plus to give a better picture of the nutrition situation in their areas. It was also noted that there were areas which showed an increase in the prevalence rate of undernutrition, wherein the P/CNAOs were asked to conduct an assessment to determine the reasons for the deterioration in nutritional status. The following were also discussed: status of the Barangay Level Training of PGN and 2016 targets; accomplishment report of the 4th wave in 2015; status of delivery of BNS handbook, where the P/CNAOs were requested to submit the evaluation of the handbook; status of model barangays trained on community mobilizing for IYCF support group; schedule of MELLPI and BNS evaluation; and status of submission of reports to NNC. Ms. Lourdes Vega of the Nutrition Policy and Planning Division of the NNC Central Office also gave an update on the provision of incentives for the NAOs. And lastly, the NNC’s activities, trainings and special events for 2016 were presented for the reference of everyone.
