After 5 months of conducting the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) in the 5 provinces and 17 cities of the region, the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) gathered last September 13, 2016 at Eurotel, Makati to deliberate on the results of the evaluation and identify top performing LGUs.

The National Nutrition Council - Calabarzon identified the areas to be recognized during the 2016 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony to be held on November 11, 2016. Although still for validation by the NNC Central Office, the following were declared by the

RNET as the outstanding performers in the field of nutrition program management in the region: Province of Quezon as the Outstanding Province in the Region; Binan City as the Outstanding City in the Region; Kalayaan, Laguna as the Outstanding Municipality in the Region; Brgy. Neogan,Tagaytay City as the Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Committee in the Region; MNAO Leni Adao of Kalayaan, Laguna the Outstanding MNAO in the Region; and Mr. Danilo Posion as the Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar. Mr. Posion is also a contender for the Search for the National Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar for 2015. The other awards are to be presented during the awarding ceremony.

MELLPI is being done annually to monitor and evaluate the performance of LGUs in their nutrition program management and its impact on target groups. Awards and recognition are given to those with exemplary effort and with notable results in helping alleviate malnutrition in the region. This awarding aims not just to recognize outstanding LGU in terms of nutrition but also for them to serve as guide and inspiration to others.
