Danilo Posion of Barangay Iruhin Central, Tagaytay City was named the 2015 National Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar during the 2016 National Awarding Ceremony (NNAC) held on 13 December 2016 at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City. BNS Posion bested the rest of the 42,000 BNS nationwide by showing extraordinary amount of dedication in advocating nutrition with the equally exemplary help and support of his Barangay officials and co-workers, and the City Nutrition Committee. He received a plaque of recognition and a cash award of Php 115,000.00 together with Tagaytay City Mayor Agnes D. Tolentino, Barangay Chair Jennifer Reyes Manguinao, and City Nutrition Action Officer Engr. Emilma U. Pello.
Before he became the BNS of Iruhin Central, Danny was a utility worker in their barangay, was assigned the Focal Person for Persons with Disability (PWD) in their barangay, the Founder of the Barangay Youth Club, and was an active member of Community Health Team. While serving the barangay, he enrolled at the community learning classes of the Alternative Learning System (ALS) Program at the barangay by the city government and passed the accreditation and equivalency test for high school. He is currently the president of the BNS Association of Tagaytay City and a board member of the Federation of Barangay Nutrition Scholars in Region IV-A, (FBNS-4A), Inc.
When he was still a utility worker, he used to observe what their former BNS was doing, and became interested in giving advice to the mothers and feeding the children. He would gladly volunteer his services whenever there were nutrition activities in their barangay. After their former BNS resigned, he was called in the Barangay Nutrition Office to be assigned as the new BNS. He was overwhelmed by the amount of tasks the BNS has to do. But that did not stop him from loving his work and being excellent at it.
In his speech during the National Awarding Ceremony, he called on the local chief executives present to support nutrition and the BNSs. He also called on the other BNSs to continue with their tasks for the betterment of the nutrition situation in the country.
