TACLOBAN CITY, Oct. 26-- The Communicators’ Network for Nutrition in Region IV-A (CNN-4A) has successfully conducted its third Technical Exchange this time with Harmonized Initiatives of Media for the Spread of Good Nutrition in Region 8 (HIMSoG-8) on October 24-26, 2019 in Tacloban City.
The activity primarily aimed to learn the best practices on nutrition of both media organizations which have been an able ally of the National Nutrition Council in spreading good nutrition in their respective regions. The undertaking was jointly conducted through the cooperation of both Regional Nutrition Program Coordinators, Ms. Carina Z. Santiago of Region 4A and Dr. Catalino P. Dotollo Jr. of Region 8.
Highlighted in the activity was the actual presentation of the best practices of both organizations. HIMSoG-8 was proud to showcase their achievements: the conduct of Media Caravans to nutritionally depressed communities; Media Roundtable discussions; State of the Nutrition Address (SONA); and their groups’ participation in the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI).
On the part of CNN-4A, significant accomplishments include: the conduct of two Youth Forum on Nutrition in Dasmariñas City and Antipolo City; Media Caravans, production of various newsletters, magazine and other IEC print materials; radio ad placements to different radio stations in Calabarzon; and production of Nutri-Komiks.
Both media organizations were happy with the outcome of the Technical Exchange as each group was able to learn from the best practices and in the long run, hopes to improve their advocacies and promotional activities in spreading good nutrition to all Filipinos.
One of the lighter but fun activities was the environmental scanning where both groups visited the Gen. McArthur Leyte Landing landmark, the Yolanda Monument, the famous San Juanico Bridge and other sites.
