final dap articleNNC Calabarzon staff, Ms. Lourdes Bulante-Orongan, NO III, was one of the Middle Management Class (MMC) scholars who recently joined the Public Management Development Program (PMDP) of the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP).  Together with other scholars from 24 government agencies in 12 regions across the country, she was welcomed   in a virtual grand opening ceremony.

In the event, NNC Executive Director, Dr. Azucena M. Dayanghirang was represented by Ms. Carina Z. Santiago, RNPC of NNC Calabarzon.   The program is part of the firm commitment of DAP to continue producing peak performing managers and leaders for the Filipino people.  

During the welcome address, Atty. Engelbert C. Caronan Jr, DAP President and CEO encouraged the MMC scholars to reflect on their public service roles and find inspiration to continue to bring new value to the world around them and be innovators of change. 

An insightful learning journey on the importance of being a committed, peak-performing citizen-centric leader was imparted by the event’s distinguished guest, Dr. Lenny Joy Johnson-Rivera. She joined the MMC Batch 5 in 2014 and is now the ARD of Davao Center for Health Development.

Dr. Rivera encouraged the MMC scholars to ardently study the program modules which are intended to mold them into “High Performing and High Potential (HPHP) leaders in the country.  She added that the scholars need to seriously consider their capstone projects which could give them the chance to share them internationally, just as she also did previously.  

NEDA Undersecretary. Jose Miguel R. Dela Rosa who is also the Alternate Chair of NGCESDP Steering Committee likewise expressed his great hope that the MMC scholars will continue their public service even after the program. He reiterated the goal of the scholars which is to be the best version of themselves.    

It was Mr. Ricardo Benjamin D. Osorio, Matatag Class President of DAP PMDP Batch 23 who tossed the challenge of excellence to the incoming batch.  The challenge was accepted by Dr. Monrey Isiah Mancilla from DOH Bicol Region and representative of MMC Batch 24. He further stated the batch’s commitment on behalf of his co-scholars.

DAP maintained its traditional rite of pinning the agency logos of the incoming scholars through their powerpoint presentations. The new scholars were called one-by-one and were given time to greet the guests and participants. The virtual event was also attended by the DAP PMDP faculty and institutional partners.

To date,1,135 government office scholars from 195 agencies nationwide have already completed the MMC program. Recently, two earlier virtual class batches have been successfully accomplished.
