LGUs of CaLaBarZon join the ECCD F1K areas in Rizal and Quezon Province

CAVITE PROVINCE, 8 November - NNC CaLaBaRZon continues its provision of technical assistance to its LGUs to  secure investments in nutrition programs and projects in the region through online Annual Investment Program (AIP) workshops  themed, “Building Pandemic Resiliency of LGUs Through Investments in Nutrition in the 2021 AIP”

In partnership with DOH-NDDPs and IIRR, NNC-CaLaBaRZon further carries on its advocacy of integrating nutrition in local planning and budgeting even in this time of the pandemic.

The investments  and actions  in the First 1000 Days of life, together with the three other Nutrition PPAs (Philippine Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition, Nutrition-Sensitive Programs and Enabling Program for Nutrition) -- will help build resiliency against the nutrition crisis.

Quezon Province and its cities and selected municipalities belonging to ECCD F1K areas participated in the “First Batch” of the Online AIP Workshop which was convened from October 21 to 23.  The ECCD F1K areas include Candelaria, Polillo, Sariaya, Infanta, Tayabas City, Pagbilao, Alabat, and Buenavista, Quezon. Quezon Province is one of the successful program implementers that have invested in the First 1000 Days Program (F1K).

The second batch of the AIP workshop was held last November 6, and was participated by the Provinces of Cavite, Batangas and Rizal, City of Calamba, including the ECCD F1K municipalities of Rizal Province (Baras and Rodriguez).

The AIP workshop is a response to the growing recognition of nutrition as one of the key actions towards building resiliency during this time of the pandemic. It is also a follow through activity to secure the gains made for nutrition across the LGUs that have undergone the local planning and budgeting workshops in 2019.

Day 1 of the AIP Online Workshop covered  technical sessions, technical assistance and completion of outputs: In Session 1, “The Building Pandemic Resilient LGUs Through Local Investments in Nutrition” was tackled; In Session 2,  “Guidelines and Mechanics”; In Session 3,  “Instructional Video – AIP Costing Workbook for Nutrition” by Mr. Andre Flores of Alcanz International.  The afternoon sessions included “One-on-One Technical Assistance and Completion of Outputs” -- for the “2021 Annual Investment Program for Nutrition” and “Re-entry Plan.”

Hopefully, each LGU that have taken part in the AIP Workshop would be able to clearly visualize the significance of investing for nutrition. Further, the session lessons are expected to be translated in the completed output of their “Annual Investment Program for Nutrition.”
