CAVITE PROVINCE, 10 November - NNC-CaLaBaRZon pledged to actively support the line of activities of the Regional inter-agency body, Regional Sub-Committee for the Welfare of Children (RSCWC) IV-A CALABARZON for the 28th National Children’s Month (NCM) celebration activities with its theme “Sama-samang Itaguyod ang Karapatan ng Bawat Bata sa Panahon ng Pandemya.”
The activities will focus on continuously disseminating the 2020 NCM message of upholding children’s rights during this pandemic through strengthening the promotion of a child’s health particularly in investments in the First 1000 Days of every child’s life in the CaLaBaRZon region.
The end goal is to: (1) Intensify public awareness and knowledge on children’s rights, adequate care and protection for children, and application of positive discipline in daily dealings with children; (2) Promote further the institutionalization of a child-friendly environment and governance by promoting implementation and monitoring of child – related protocols at the sub – national levels; (3) Provide a platform for discourse on persistent and arising issues pertaining to children’s rights to survival, development, protection, and participation during and post (4) Empower the children as rights-holders to claim and protect their rights; and (5) Equip the duty-bearers to deliver their commitment and fulfill their obligations to protect children and fulfill the rights of the children.
Every November, the Philippines celebrates NCM by virtue of Republic Act No. 10661 to recognize children as the nation's most valuable assets and emphasize the importance of their role within the Filipino family and the Philippine society. It commemorates the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child by the United Nations General Assembly on 20 November 1989 which seeks to instill its significance in the Filipino consciousness.
The annual celebration is led by the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the National Youth Commission (NYC).
