With the recent resumption of the MELLPI Pro, the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) Calabarzon will be using the new supplementary and implementing guidelines and updated tools, integrated in the context of Covid-19 and other emergencies and disasters, to assess the progress of the implementation of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) at the local level.
MELLPI Pro or Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol, is a great opportunity to provide assistance to the LGUs and the Local Nutrition Focal Points (LNFPs) by giving timely and relevant recommendations based on the contextualized results of the evaluation.
The 12 government agencies and non-government organizations who were given an orientation on the new MELLPI Pro include: DOH-Nutrition, DOH-DRRM, DSWD, DOST, DTI, DBM, DOLE, BFAR, NEDA, PIA, Kabisig ng Kalahi and BIDANI.
Discussed in the joint meeting of the RNET/RTWG are the new mode of conduct for the monitoring and evaluation. Due to the worsening pandemic, they will depend on the situation at the local level. Thus, some evaluators will not be able to conduct onsite MELLPI Pro in most areas in the region.
As agreed, for those LGUs who prefer online mode, the members will evaluate through modified online setup wherein the desk review will be physically convened in a most convenient venue and the meeting with stakeholders will be done online. Some members also committed to joining onsite mode for those LGUs who prefer face-to-face evaluation.
