Two batches of the online “MELLPI Pro Orientation” were conducted consecutively in March 11 and 12 this year in the Provinces of Batangas and Laguna.
Participating in the orientation were 13 LGUs of Laguna Province and 27 LGUs of Batangas -- in collaboration with the Provincial Health and Nutrition Office of Laguna and Batangas Province.
In Laguna Province, the 27 LGU are: Cities of Biñan, Cabuyao, Calamba, San Pedro, San Pablo, including municipalities from Alaminos, Bay, Calauan, Kalayaan, Los Baños, Magdalena, Nagcarlan, Pila.
In Batangas the 27 LGUs are: Lemery, Alitagtag, San Juan, Lobo, Taisan, Calaca, San Jose, Taal, Agoncillo, Cuenca, Lian, Laurel, Calatagan, Balete, Talisay, Mabini, Rosario, Ibaan, Balayan, Malvar, Padre Garcia, San Pascual, and Tuy. Also present were members of the Provincial Nutrition Evaluation Team (PNET).
The PNET and Nutrition Action Officers were among the participants. Shared with them were the MELLPI Pro forms for LGU and Local Nutrition Focal Point (LNFP).
Mentioned in the agreements and next steps, are for the Nutrition Evaluation Team in the Provincial/City/Municipal level to strategize and identify the mode of evaluation and schedule in respective areas. This is in consideration for the RNET which will start its evaluation for the Local Nutrition Committees (LNCs)/LGUs and LNFPs by May 2021. The evaluation will end on July 2021.
The MELLPI Pro or the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Pro may either be conducted “online,” “onsite” or “modified online.” The modified online will be a combination of “online” and “on-site” process, subject to the guidance set by the IATF on covid-19 pandemic protocol.
The following were the agenda during the virtual orientation: (1) Overview of MELLPI Pro; (2) MELLPI Pro during COVID-19; (3) Schedule of Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET); (4) MELLPI Pro Forms for LGUs and Local Nutrition Focal Point (LNFP); (5) Open Forum.
In the next few days, the PNETs and NAOs of the provinces of Cavite, Quezon, and Rizal will also be given the MELLPI Pro orientation by the NNC4A team.
