Quezon City – Ten LGUs in Cavite Province have been selected as beneficiaries  of  the Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program  to ease malnutrition among a  total of 960  stunted and wasted 6-23 months old children.

The areas covered  by the program are Imus City and Trece Martires City; and the  municipalities of General Emilio Aguinaldo, Naic, Noveleta, Mendez, Ternate, Tanza, Maragondon and Indang.

To strengthen the commitment through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and passage of Sangguniang Bayan (SB) resolution of the participating cities and municipalities for the sound implementation of the program,  Ms.  Carina Santiago, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator of NNC Calabarzon, convened a Zoom Coordination Meeting.

Those who assisted in the meeting for the C/MNAOs of the  10 target areas last March 25,  were Helen Penalba, Cavite PNAO ; Ms. Dessa Mae Alibangbang, DNPC;  and Ms. Liberty Guzman.

During the meeting,  Ms. Ma. Jhonnadelle Ritz  Castillo and Ms. Mary Emerene  Pingol, the  Provincial Nutrition Coordinators (PNC),  discussed the overview and guidelines of the program and the various activities to be conducted. The activities are:  social preparation activities, dietary supplementation, LGU mobilization,  and orientation of the participating stakeholders and beneficiaries.

Roles and responsibilities of each participating unit were also identified. The participating units are: NNC Central Office, NNC Calabarzon, partner agencies such as Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and Department Interior and Local Government (DILG), including the counterpart of the partner Provincial,  and the municipal and barangay unit.

An important reminder was also announced regarding the submission of masterlist of children and other required documents including the names of consignees in the provincial, city, municipal and barangay level.

Ms. Kristine Joy Fedilo, Nutrition Officer I,  will be assisting the PNCs in the compilation and consolidation of information submitted by the target areas in Cavite.

The CNAOs and MNAOs  who participated in the  meeting  were:    Ms. Wenda  Garcia, CNAO of Trece Martires City; Dr. Fernando Mina, CNAO of Imus City;    Ms. Cristina Balana, CNPC of Imus City;  Ms. Josefina Mendoza, MNAO of Maragondon;   Ms. Eufemia Gonzales, MNAO of Mendez;  Ms. Analisa Oliveros, MNAO of Naic;  Ms. Zara Guemo, MNAO of Noveleta; Ms. Eriberta Ayos, MNAO of General Emilio Aguinaldo;  Ms. Benette Castillo, MNAO of Ternate. Ms. Dorothy Ramirez, Nutrition Coordinator of Tanza also joined the meeting.
