FBNS IV-A 2nd Q Meeting: To Intensify More Opportunities for Improving Nutrition Outcomes

More opportunities for improving nutrition outcomes were discussed in the recent second  quarter meeting of the Federation of Barangay Nutrition Scholars (FBNS) in Region IV-A,  Series 2021.

Taken up in the meeting were the following: FBNS IV-A Plans for 2021; Nutrition Month 2021 Plan of Activities for 2021;  and Social Media Promotions for FBNS IV-A.

That NNC Calabarzon will aid the FBNS focal persons in creating the  FBNS IV-A FB page and  promote the  extensive dissemination of nutrition information nationwide were among the highlights in the plans and agreements.

Ms. Carina  Santiago, the Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator (RNPC)  led  the meeting, in collaboration with Ms. Milagros Valera, FBNS IV-A  President of Laguna Province Chapter,  and the FBNS IV-A officers and board of directors from various provinces and cities in Calabarzon.

Also discussed in the meeting were: the Treasurer's report and feedback  for concerns related to payment of annual dues; and  updates on the requests for BNS travelling allowance, medical and survivorship assistance, and Civil Service Eligibility (2020-May 2021) of the members. 

The federation concluded with  the following activities and plans for 2021: 

  • FBNS officers to conduct a virtual meeting to discuss the proposed benefits of members, including medical assistance to be integrated in the Memorandum of Agreement, etc.;
  • BNS presidents of the different provinces and cities to identify and submit list of BNSs qualified for the Service Award;
  • BNS presidents to submit a list of members with paid annual dues (P100), registration fee (P200), LuzViMin fee (P12.00);
  • FBNS treasurer to consolidate the submitted lists of payments, per LGU, per year;
  • FBNS presidents to coordinate with their respective NAOs regarding updating of BNS data base for the issuance of BNS ID;
  • FBNS secretary to facilitate submission of the 2020 Financial Report of the FBNS IV-A to SEC;
  • Draft MOA between BNS and FBNS IV-A for revision/finalization before dissemination to all BNSs;
  • Conduct a FBNS IV-A General Assembly in August 2021 for BNS presidents and officers of all municipalities/cities/provinces of Calabarzon.

Before the closing of the meeting, RNPC Carina  Santiago expressed her gratitude to all the BNSs who have actively participated in the meeting. In addition, it was mentioned that  the next meeting will be in August.
