The “Step Up D/C/MNPCs: Increase your Confidence and Build your Skills” webinar was recently and successfully launched by Calabarzon’s NNC and the District/City/Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinators Association of the Philippines (D/C/MNPCAP) – Calabarzon Chapter.
The webinar’s theme “Malnutrisyon Pagtulungang Labanan, First 1000 Days Tutukan!” strongly reflects the objectives of the webinar: the enhancement of nutrition knowledge and personal development capabilities of the D/C/MNPCs and stakeholders for a more active and effective implementation and promotion of their responsibilities.
The webinar opened with a Welcome Message from the D.C/MNPCAP – Calabarzon President, Ms. Marietta DG. Dogelio, and was followed by a short Message from the Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, Carina Z. Santiago. Dr. Azucena M. Dayanghirang, NNC Assistant Secretary and Executive Director, delivered her inspirational message on the acronym STEP UP which stands for : “Sell nutrition to your local chief executives and invest in PPAN Programs;” “Tap NGOs, CSOs, business sectors, academe, and religious group to participate in nutrition programs;” “Educate or engage the community members on the importance of First 1000 Days; and “Promote nutrition in times of emergencies and disasters.”
The activity, anchored by Ms. Liberty Guzman, DNPC of Cavite Province tackled the “2021 Nutrition Month” talking points together by Ms. Zarah Clarice Megino, NNC Nutrition Officer III.
Ms. Raquel Buere, D/CNPCAP National President shared the following “Roles and Functions of D/C/MNPCs in PPAN” :
1) Provide supervision monitoring and mentoring of BNSs;
2) Facilitate mobilization of resources for nutrition programs;
3) Coordinate nutrition programs and related services with other agencies and
associations;
4) Assist the P/C/MNAOs;
5) Provide technical assistance to City/Municipal/Barangay Nutrition Committee;
6) Provide staff support for BNS program;
7) Supervise and evaluate BNSs;
8) Submit consolidated BNS reports to NNC.
Furthermore, Ms. Zenaida Velasco, NDAP President, also discussed “Personality Development,” “Personality and Character,” “Personal Brand,” “Visual Elements,” and “Three-Pillars of Online Presence” or “Professionalism During Online Meetings/Webinars.”
The communal sessions promoted greater enthusiasm and participation, particularly during the “Open Forum” and interactive games using “Slido.” In the interactive games, questions were asked about the “2021 Nutrition Month,” “Roles and Functions of D/C/MNPCs” and “Personal Development.”
“Step Up DCMNPCs: be dependable; be a communicator; be a member; be a nutrition advocate; be a performer; and be confident” was the concluding synthesis and was delivered by Ms. Dessa May Alibangbang, D/C/MNPCAP Vice President.
