On December 4, 2012 at the Hotel H2O, Manila, the Calabarzon Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony 2012 was held to honor Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), Nutrition Action Officers (NAO’s) and Local Government Officials from the different cities and provinces of the region. The event’s highlights were the messages given by: Ms. Carina Z. Santiago, Nutrition Program Coordinator of CALABARZON; Honorable Angelo B. Palmones (Representative, Agham Party list); Mayor Jose F. Mendoza (Chair, Municipal Nutrition Committee Atimonan, Quezon); Ms. Cecilia S. Santos (BNS, Barangay Kaybagal South); Director Josefina Castilla-Go (Regional Director, DILG and Vice Chair of RSCN) and the Keynote Speech of Director Edgardo M. Gonzaga (Director IV, DOH-CHD IV-A).

Recognition of Guests and Participants were done and various Nutrition Awards were given. Among the awardees were the Green Banner Awards for Outstanding Municipality in the Province, Outstanding Municipality in the Region and Outstanding Province in the Region by Cuenca, Batangas; Bay, Laguna; Atimonan, Quezon and Batangas Province respectively. Launching of new awards was presented and these are Outstanding Nutrition Action Officer in the Region and Outstanding Barangay in the Region. This victorious event was wrapped up by the masters of ceremonies, Ms. Janet G. Buelo, PIO Quezon Province and Mr. Red C. Alano, CIO, Dasmariñas City.

This prestigious awarding ceremony is being held annually by the National Nutrition Council Region IV-A, to honor the people who have shown exemplary performance in implementing the local nutrition program.
