In the 2021 “Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony (RNAC),” NNC Calabarzon proudly conferred the Green Banner Seal of Compliance (GBSC) awards to 10 LGUs in the region last December 3 in Pasig City.
The LGU awardees are the cities of: Bacoor (Cavite), Dasmariñas (Cavite), San Pablo (Laguna), Santo Tomas (Batangas) and Tayabas (Quezon), and municipalities of Calaca (Batangas), Atimonan (Quezon), Pagbilao (Quezon), Buenavista (Quezon), and Sariaya (Quezon). Each were given an elegant crystal “Plaque of Recognition” and a “Green Banner Seal of Compliance (GBSC).”
For 2019, the dedicated LGUs have carried out their exemplary performances on nutrition program implementation and have rigorously prioritized and implemented quality nutrition interventions. Furthermore, the distinct nutrition innovations and collaborative efforts of the LGUs have helped them achieve their respective nutritional goals. As such, the noted LGU interventions have demonstrated significant impact on the nutrition situation of the children and adults in the whole community.
The GBSC is given to LGUs with an overall accomplishment rating of at least 85 percent. Moreover, the GBSC awardees have a chance to receive the “Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner on Nutrition (CROWN)” award at the national level if they maintain an outstanding performance for three consecutive years.
The NNC secretariat is happy to note the increasing number of LGUs receiving the prestigious award, which prove that the technical assistance provided by the NNC (through the MELLPI Pro, capacity building, technical updates in meetings and advocacy initiatives) are now yielding positive results. Nevertheless, the NNC is continuously hoping that there will be more LGUs in the region implementing quality nutrition interventions in view of a nutritionally healthier Calabarzon.
