Cebu City – LNC members and planning officers from the cities and municipalities of province of Cebu bonded together to formulate their respective local nutrition action plan in local nutrition action planning workshop organized by NNC 7 on 18-19 October 2022 at the One Central Hotel, Cebu City.
Done after the success of the Bohol province’s leg, the two-day workshop dubbed as “Planning Workshop on the Integration of Nutrition in the 2023-2025 LDP and the 2023 AIP” is a strategy of the NNC 7 to help LGUs realize the alarming cause of malnutrition and its impact not only to its children and families, but also the community and the country.
Eighty-nine NAOs, planning officers, local NPCs and other LNC members from 53 attending LGUs were present during the activity. Selected DMOs from the province were also invited during the workshop to share their insights to the LGUs and help identify action points to streamline the LNAP targets and strategies with the Universal Health Care’s.
NNC 7 being the facilitators provided technical assistance to the participants on how to identify priority strategies based on their status of malnutrition, and where to anchor the budget of these strategies.
DMO V Engr. Gerson T. Miguel for Cebu province thanked NNC 7 for inviting the DMOs in the activity. According to him, the activity allows not only the DMOs but also the LGUs to realize the importance of the nutrition program, especially as the LGUs are in the process of recovering from the COVID 19 pandemic and typhoon Odette.
The activity ended with the presentation of the LGU’s costing workbook outputs where proposed nutrition budget to be integrated to their LGU’s Annual Investment Programs (AIP) for 2023 and 2024 is stipulated.
NNC 7 is equally thankful to the LGUs for their attendance and is looking forward to the conduct of the last leg of the planning workshop for the provinces of Negros Oriental and Siquijor. // DMO II Norre Jean V. delos Santos
