RNC Resolution No. 1 s.2023, “Resolution Expanding the Composition of the Regional Nutrition Committee of NCR to include Convenors of the Regional Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Networks of Academe, Business, Civil Society, and Youth” was unanimously approved during the first meeting of the committee held yesterday, 31 January 2023 at the National Nutrition Council Central Office in Taguig City.

Sudiacal of Metro Manila Center for Health Development, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Milagros Elisa V. Federizo shared the background of the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement and how the regional SUN networks of academe, business, civil society, and youth were organized. The regional networks through their respective Convenors will be involved in the discussions and decision-making of the RNC as it collectively finds way to improve the nutrition situation in the region.
Present during the meeting were RNC Vice-Chairs Acting Regional Director Jackylin Robel (PopCom-NCR) and Executive Director Dr. Mary Christine Castro (Nutrition Center of the Philippines), members RD Emver Cortez (PIA-NCR), ED Didi Vega (Nutrition Foundation of the Philippines), ED Marlene Viray-Navarro (Grace Family Helper Project), and representatives from DILG-NCR, DTI-NCR, TESDA-NCR, and DepEd-NCR.
Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement is a global movement that encourages multisectoral and multi-stakeholder collective action to bring about an end to malnutrition. In 2022, SUN 3.0 was launched in the region and the Regional SUN Networks of Academe, Business, Civil Society, and Youth were organized by the NNC-NCR. During these organizational meetings, the Convenors of each network were elected. These Convenors are expected to represent their network in the SUN multisectoral meetings as well as in the Regional Nutrition Committee.
