October 28, 2020. Cotabato City. The Provincial Government of Lanao Del Sur Chief Mamintal Bombit Adiong acknowledges the gargantuan task to address the nutritional problems faced by the constituents since his assumption as the Governor. The data dissemination of Food and Nutrition Research Institute of the Department of Science and Technology in the recently concluded Expanded National Nutrition Survey (ENNS) revealed the marked improvement of Lanao del Sur from Stunting rate of 5 out 10 (49%) below 5 year old children to 3 (33.3%) in just 4 years.

Undernutrition, Wasting, and Obesity data is even better or at par with the National Data as reported. “This is one of the most significant reduction on malnutrition record in the entire region of Bangsamoro Region in the recent years.” The report was lauded by Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim acting as the Regional Nutrition Czar. With the support and concerted effort of the BARMM Regional Nutrition Committee, Local Government Units, Civil Society Organizations, International Non-Government Organizations, Non-Government Organizations and National Nutrition Council, it strengthened the drive to attain the objectives. “I am very happy that our efforts had paid off. The dedication of health personnel towards nutritional challenges is consistent with the national goals and objectives”, said Dr. Alinader Minalang, the Provincial Health Chief of the province.

As former ARMM Health Secretary Sinolinding Jr. mentioned in 1996, “The road to nutrition and health is certain with our commitment and cooperation.” Indeed.
