Filipinos don’t usually celebrate holidays like Christmas and New Year without preparing a lot of food in their table. Traditionally, lechon, hamon, pasta, desserts, vegetables, fruits and a lot of kakanins are usually served. Also, celebrating these days would not be complete without wine, beer, tuba etc.

PALO, LEYTE -- With the main objective of finalizing the local nutrition action plan (LNAP) 2020-2022 selected local government units of Northern Samar immersed themselves to the Workshop on Enhancement and Finalization of LNAPs on 6-8 November 2019 at Ciriaco Hotel, Calbayog City, Samar.
The said activity was a follow through of the integrating of nutrition in the development plans exercise conducted last 17-20 September 2019 at The Oreintal Hotel, Palo, Leyte for the Northern Samar Province and its constituents’ municipalities. The enhancement/finalization of LNAPs was sponsored by Plan International to identified Plan areas to cover: Catubig, Las Navas, San Roque, Lope de Vega and Catarman.

TACLOBAN CITY (Jack C. Gadaingan, Nation Builder) – To become members of their own Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) doing Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Implementation Protocol (MELLPI Pro) was one of the Communicators Network for Nutrition of Region-4A members wanted to emulate of the members of the Harmonized Initiative for the Spread of Good Nutrition in Region 8 (HIMSoG-8), who are already active conducting MELLPI Pro region-wide as members of Region-8 RNET.
This developed during the Technical Exchange between the NNC-Calabarzon media-group partner CNN-4A and NNC-8 media-group partner HIMSoG-8 conducted on October 24, 2019 at the Leyte Park Hotel, here.

PALO, LEYTE -- PAHIMOSAN Interlocal Health Zone composed of the Municipalities of Paranas, Hinabangan, Motiong and San Jose de Buan all in Samar Province conducted an orientation on Nutrition Program Management on 19-21 November 2019 at Kirigtaan Hall, Paranas, Samar.
The 3-day orientation was facilitated in by the National Nutrition Council 8 with RNPC Catalino P. Dotollo Jr. and NOIII Nino Archie Labordo as the resource persons. The main aim of the activity was to give the Municipal Nutrition Committee members the knowledge skills and attitude on nutrition program management and to present the enhanced local nutrition action plan.

TACLOBAN CITY (Jack C. Gadaingan, Nation Builder) – Carina Z. Santiago, Regional Program Coordinator of National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region-4A (Calabarzon) together with Lourdes B. Orongon and Ezra Minette B. Lasin, Nutrition Officer III and Nutrition Officer II respectively from the same region, headed a contingent of 10 practicing media from Calabarzon calling themselves as the “Communicators’ Network for Nutrition in Region 4-A” (CNN-4A) to a visit of Eastern Visayas Region for a Technical Exchange with NNC-8 media-group partner Harmonized Initiatives of Media for the Spread of Good Nutrition in Region 8 (HIMSoG-8) on October 24-26, 2019.
The CNN-4A was headed by its President Red C. Alano, Vice President (VP) for Print Antonio R. Antazo Jr., VP for Broadcast Emil Jun B. Delos Santos, VP for Social Media Kier Gideon Paolo Gapayao, Auditor Genielyn M. Tobias, Chairman of the Board of Directors Janet G. Buelo, and members Nanacy G. Quizon-Vidal, Maria Victoria A. Carino, Maricel Manza and Mayrenel C. Manalo.

BORONGAN CITY (Samuel D. Candido, PIA-E. Samar) -- The Provincial Government of Eastern Samar spearheaded a Health Summit on November 7, 2019 at Jipapad Gymnasium, Jipapad, Eastern Samar, with a theme: Universal Health Care (UHC), Anhi na!
Simultaneous activities were held, like “Buntis Congress” and pre-natal health care and medical consultations with the elderly and Person with Disabilities (PWDs) with consultation, laboratory work up, and eye cataract screening.
