BUGUEY, CAGAYAN---- The National Nutrition Council Region 02 oriented the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), midwives and staff of the Municipal Nutrition Committee (MNC) on how to use the Electronic Operation Timbang (E-OPT) Plus 5.1 on 11 March at Legislative Building, Buguey, Cagayan.

Mr. John Nestor Ballad, Nutrition Officer II, shared brief lecture about the EOPT plus version 5.1 during the morning session. He emphasized the updates on the newest version such as the use of provincial multiplier for 2020, the list of ow and ob added (for city and muns tool) and the nie tabs for wasting, underweight and stunting.

 "This tool, when fully utilized will be a great ease to our nutrition information databases and will make the OPT plus consolidation quicker and easier," he added during his lecture in the morning session.

CVBNSF help

Tuguegarao City--- Cagayan Valley Baragay Nutrition Scholars Federation Inc., (CVBNSF Inc.) extended P10, 000.00 financial assistance to victims of taal volcano eruption through Project Tala organized by BolunTurismo PH.

BolunTurismo PH which started in 2016 is a small organization composed of young professionals with the same heart to reach more children in need while exploring the wonders of the Philippines. Funds are coming from individuals who have the same heart to help.

Last month, the team launched a project dubbed as, "PROJECT TALA: Para sa mga Naantala ng Taal A Donation Drive for the Affected Families" which aims to deliver basic services and relief good to families affected by taal eruption.

Abbang new

Tuguegarao City--- The Cagayan Valley Nutrition Action Officers Federation elected new set of officers during the first semester joint CVNAOs and CVDCMNPCs federation meeting on 20 February at Taj Hotel and Resto/Bar, Tuguegarao City.

Dr. Maria Concepcion Abbang, MNAO and MHO-Lal-lo, Cagayan was unanimously voted by members of CVNAOS and representative present during the meeting. At present, she is already the representative of region 02 to national federation meetings and conferences.

For the past years, CVNAOs was not properly represented in the national federation quarterly meetings. As shared by Dr. Abbang, only 29 NAOs were registered as members to the national federation.

In her statement, Dr. Abbang pledged to plan activities and ensure that CVNAOs will be active during her term.

Henidina

Tuguegarao City--- Ms. Henedina Cabrera, NDIII Province of Isabela and President-CVDCMNPC association, vowed more active Cagayan Valley District/City/Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinators association during its first semester meeting on 20 February at Taj Hotel and Resto/Bar, Tuguegarao City.

The association members unanimously decided to retain its current set of officers and to plan for their 2020 activities to ensure participation of its members.

As agreed during the first semester meeting, members of association need to pay their one time membership payment of P300 and annual dues of P 100 to officially register them as members of the association.

He emphasized the updates on the newest version such as the use of provincial multiplier for 2020, the list of ow and ob added (for city and muns tool) and the nie tabs for wasting, underweight and stunting.

 "This tool is a collaborative effort of the NNC central office and FAO. We should fully utilize this tool and appreciate its purpose," he added during his lecture in the morning session.

MELLPI PRO NEWEST

Tuguegarao City----After its successful five (5) batches of roll out training on the updated monitoring and evaluation tool dubbed as the MELLPI Pro last year, and the discussion during the First Semester Joint NAOs and DCMNPCs federation meeting on 20 February the Local Nutrition Workers in the region are now prepared and ready for the full swing of the MELLPI PRO this 2020.

MELLPI Pro is the updated monitoring and evaluation framework and system for assessment of initiatives along policy and legislation, nutrition service delivery, capacity building, performance of nutrition workers and nutrition outcomes of pregnant women.
The tool is called MELLPI Pro because it is a Protocol that includes procedures and tools; Promotive since it promotes awareness and observance to existing laws, rules and guidelines; Progressive as scoring is based on desired progress of LGUs in terms of nutrition program implementation and Professional because it promotes professional and objective review of evidences.

In addition, the MELLPI Pro is also a tool used to assess the performance of local nutrition workers such as Nutrition Action Officers (NAOs) and District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators (DCNPCs) and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs).
