nobnsAfter a rigorous selection process among the 42,000 Barangay Nutrition Scholars deployed nationwide by the interagency Regional Nutrition Evaluation Teams, 14 Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholars (ROBNS) were identified.  Of the 14, the top eight Regional Outstanding BNSs now compete for the honor of being recognized as the “2015 National Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar”.

The Philippine Nutrition Cluster, represented by Ms. Margarita DC. Enriquez and Ms. Jeline Marie M. Corpuz, both Nutrition Officers of the National Nutrition Council joined the first ever organized Global Nutrition Cluster Training on Information Management (IM). They were joined by other Information Managers from government and UN agencies from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Jordan, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Pakistan, Ukraine, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, and Yemen.

In the 2016 Global Nutrition Report, the Philippines tops the countries in Southeast Asian region with the prevalence of wasted children (underweight) at 7.9% and critical levels of stunting (short for their age) at 30.3%.

Social media rank among the top online activities for many Filipinos with 39% checking social media networks first before doing any other online activities and 64% of online Filipinos relying on information from social media channels[1]. The Philippines, as of 15 November 2015, has a total of 47 million Facebook users which makes the country the 3rd largest in Asia according to the Internet World Stats (2015) report.
