On July 29, 2022, the Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development, in partnership with the Local Nutrition Committee of San Mariano, Isabela and National Nutrition Council Region 02, led the 2022 Nutrition Month Culmination Activity in San Mariano, Isabela. It was attended by Regional Nutrition Committee Members, CVCHD staff, San Mariano LNC, Isabela PNC, barangay LNCs, RHU staff, barangay workers including BHWs and BNSs, mothers and children and other citizens of San Mariano.
Hon. SB Minette Miranda, Chair of Committee on Health of San Mariano welcomed the participants of the activity. She shared that the municipality is honored to host the event and showcase the talents and programs of San Mariano in nutrition.

TUGUEGARAO CITY, CAGAYAN------ National Nutrition Council Region 02 concluded the celebration of 2022 Nutrition Month by finalizing the results of all the 2022 NM Online contests Activities through series of judging on 26-27 July 2022 at NNC R02 conference room.
A total of seven (7) online contest were spearheaded by the agency namely, Poster Contest- Employee and Student Category, Slogan Making Contest, Digital Photography Contest, BNS Nutrition Heroes, 2022 NM Tiktok Challenge and Nutrition Month Short Filmmaking Contest.
On the first day of judging, Ms. Teresa Campos, DWPE Radyo ng Bayan, together with Architect Julious Buraga and Regional President- Sierra Falcones, Engr. Mark Djeron Tumabao, lead the juding of the online poster and slogan making contest.
“It is good to note that the NNC is tapping students and employees to participate in this type of endeavor specially not leaving the comfort of their home or office. They can showcase their talents for everyone to witness,” stressed by Architect Buraga.

Through the National Nutrition Council Technical Committee’s ad referencum theme for this year's Nutrition Month campaign in July which is “New normal na nutrisyon, sama-samang gawan ng solusyon!”, the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office (DA RFO 2) kicked off its celebration as it encouraged stakeholders to support DA’s advocacy on Food Security.
“Food production goes with proper nutrition. What we advocate is in line with food safety. With the national government’s support, the mandate cascades the DEpED and to the barangay level as we implement and strengthen Gulayan sa Paaralan, Gulayan sa Opisina at Gulayan sa Barangay,” DA RFO 2 Executive Director Narciso A. Edillo said.
“His Excellency President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., from where he stands today is serious about increasing food sufficiency. He now looks at improving urban and peri-urban agriculture.
And so for us, let us do more on this by maximizing whatever we can plant, in whatever space we have, and try solanaceous, cucurbits, and legumes families of vegetables.

TUGUEGARAO CITY, CAGAYAN------ Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) Region 02 held its 2nd Meeting, s. 2022 to prepare for the 2022 Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) Pro last July 25 via Zoom.
NPC Maria Gisela Lonzaga led the orientation with 15 members of the RNET present. She presented the supplemental guidelines in conducting the MELLPI Pro during COVID-19 to ensure safety of both the evaluators and Local Nutrition Committees.
“We can strategize ways to ensure that this year’s MELLPI Pro will be safe while we can still achieve the objective of the evaluation,” she emphasized during the orientation meeting.
On the other hand, DMO II John Nestor Ballad presented the orientation of the MELLPI Pro to refresh old members and orient new members of the RNET and presented the journey to nutrition awards.
Lastly, NO III Edzell Arcinue discussed the proposed schedule of 2022 MELLPI Pro to ensure participation of RNET members. The RNET will confirm their preferred schedule to be attended after sending out invitations.

2022 Nutrition Month Webinar of the National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region 02 pushed through last 15 July 2022 via Zoom and Facebook live. The activity aimed to disseminate the 2022 Nutrition Month Talking Points highlighting the nutrition interventions and resiliency in the new normal, and the innovations and adaptions of national government agencies and local government units in delivery on nutrition services during the pandemic. Through the power of digital technology, it was joined by 91 Zoom participants composed of regional and local nutrition committee members in the region. FB live was viewed 968 times and reached around 1,800 FB followers.
The preliminaries highlighted the regional launching of NNC Hymn through the digital platform. Regional Nutrition Committee Chair and Regional Director of Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development, Dr. Grace V. Santiago delivered the welcome message. She acknowledged the difficulties brought by the pandemic in the past two years. She shared that nutrition services should be prioritized in the new normal which is vital to our recovery and rehabilitation.

To formally maintain its partnership in the conduct of radio programs in DZDA 105.3 FM Radyo Pangkaunlaran with other government agencies, the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office No. 02 (DA RFO 02) held the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing for existing radio programs today, July 25, 2022 at the DA RFO 02 Gymnasium, Tuguegarao City.
DA RFO 02 was represented by its Regional Executive Director Narciso Edillo wherein with him were Regional Technical Director for Operations and Extension Roberto Busania and Regional Technical Director for Research and Regulatory Rose Mary Aquino.
Also present in the signing were Regional Director Cezario Joel Espejo of Department of Social Welfare and Development Regional Field Office 02, National Nutrition Council Region 02 Nutrition Program Coordinator Maria Gisela Lonzaga, and Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation Region 02 Regional Manager Jean Bayani who signed in behalf of their respective agencies.
