9 NaBNS Fed. Inc. Meeting25 March 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – The National Barangay Nutrition Scholars Federation (NaBNS Fed), Inc. – Northern Mindanao Chapter held its first semester meeting facilitated by the National Nutrition Council Region X at Apple Tree Resort and Hotel, Opol, Misamis Oriental last 18 March 2022.

A total of nine (9) officers attended the meeting. Chapter President and Presiding Officer BNS Flordeliza S. Gonzales of Iligan City expressed her gratitude to all officers who were present during the meeting.

BNS Gonzales discussed updates from LuzViMin Federation BNS Meeting last 16 March 2022. First, the assessment of Presidential Decree No. 1569 or the BNS Program where BNSs expressed their disappointment on the lack of proper incentives, benefits, and security in their positions. All BNSs are designated positions whose jobs are vulnerable to the tenure of Local Chief Executives. The assessment also showed that the majority of the BNSs have higher educational attainment than what is required in the implementing guidelines of PD 1569. Lastly, it revealed that the BNSs’ educational attainment is significantly moderately associated with the BNS role performance. She also shared the NNC’s plan on the amendment of PD 1569: 1) to craft a legislative proposal or non-negotiable provisions that will secure the tenure of the BNSs; and 2) to design a legislative advocacy strategy to raise awareness and increase political support.

Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Puribel B. Talaroc, former Misamis Oriental provincial federated president and acting Chapter Assistant Secretary informed the officers for their upcoming renewal to Security Exchange Commission (SEC) in April 2022, this will be done together with the chapter president, secretary and treasurer. The SEC renewal will enable the association to conduct legal business, trade financial assets, and be entitled to certain rights under the country's corporate and investment laws.

Article RBATF X 2022 1st Sem Salt Monitoring FINAL28 March 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – In an effort to sustain the operationalization of the Saktong iodine sa Asin Campaign in the region, the Regional Bantay Asin Task Force (RBATF) X conducted the 1st Semester Salt Monitoring at public markets, grocery stores, sari-sari stores and restaurants in Gingoog City and Don Carlos, Bukidnon on 23 and 25 March 2022, respectively.

Gingoog City was monitored by the RBATF composed of Ms. Telesfora G. Madelo, Nutritionist-Dietitian IV of the Department of Health Center for Health Development-Northern Mindanao, PCpl Fel Angelle L. Nicdao of the Police Regional Office X, Nutrition Officer (NO) I Mark Pelias of the Provincial Health Office of Misamis Oriental, and NO I Liezel Joy D. Reyes of National Nutrition Council (NNC) X. While the monitoring team in Don Carlos, Bukidnon was composed of Ms. Hannah Leizl K. Ratunil, Nutritionist Dietitian II of the Department of Education Region X, Mr. Joel D. Lemare of Salinas Foods Corporation, Police Captain Melchor D. Saraus, Jr. and Police Corporal Evelyn J. Danggoy of Don Carlos Municipal Police Station and NO I Reyes.

The RBATF X collected a total of 21 salt samples in the major salt retailers/stores and restaurants in the two (2) localities. Salt samples collected from both LGUs were tested for iodine levels afterward, using the WYD Iodine checker machine.

Article Joint Assoc Meeting S124 March 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – After two years of conducting virtual activities with the local nutrition focal points, the National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region X convened on 18 March 2022 the officers of the Nutrition Action Officers Association of the Philippines (NAOPA), Inc. Northern Mindanao Chapter, National Barangay Nutrition Scholars (NaBNS) Federation, Inc. Northern Mindanao Chapter, and the District and City Nutrition Program Coordinators (D/CNPCs) in Region X. The joint meeting was held at Apple Tree Resort and Hotel, Opol, Misamis Oriental.

Nutrition Program Coordinator (NPC) Gladys Mae S. Fernandez and her staff facilitated the meeting of which the morning session was dedicated for the plenary updates, while afternoon session was for the breakout meetings per association.

In her opening message, NPC Fernandez thanked the nutrition workers for their attendance to the event and gave initial updates on nutrition program developments.

Inforgraphics TK Advocacy Meeting Orientation 22 23 Mar 202229 March 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – The National Nutrition Council (NNC) X held another set of Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program (TK DSP) and SMS Reporting System Orientation as the program prepares to launch in Lanao del Norte Province.

NNC X, led by Provincial Nutrition Focal Point (PNFP) Lizelle Bete, paid a visit to the Municipalities of Linamon and Kauswagan in Lanao del Norte last 22-23 March 2022.

The Municipal Nutrition Action Officer, Barangay Nutrition Scholars, Punong Barangay, and nutrition workers from the municipalities visited welcomed NNC X and actively participated in the event.

4th DCNPCs Gen Ass Highlight24 March 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – The District/City Nutrition Programs Coordinators (D/CNPCs) of Northern Mindanao convened to conduct the fourth General Assembly last 18 March 2022 at Apple Tree Resort and Hotel, Opol, Misamis Oriental. A total of 28 D/CNPCs attended the activity, which was presided by Ms. Sherill Faith P. Española, Cagayan de Oro CNPC, and Vice President of the District City Nutrition Programs Coordinators Association of the Philippines (DCNPCAP), Region X Inc.

On behalf of Misamis Oriental DNPC Marites A. Gomez, President of the DCNPCAP, Region X Inc., CNPC Española presented the President’s Report consisting of the association’s 2021 accomplishments.

Thereafter, the Association’s Treasurer CNPC Sylvia B. Gonzalez of Cagayan de Oro City reported the DCNPCAP, Regional X Inc. financial status as of 16 March 2022. Likewise, the list of the D/CNPCs who have paid the 2020 and 2021 national and regional annual dues was presented.

Article R Webby Orientation29 March 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – The National Nutrition Council Region X launches the third year of the Regional Nutri-Webby Awards, which aims to recognize local government units (LGUs) or local nutrition committees (LNCs) in Region 10 with highly visible and exemplar initiatives on promoting good nutrition for positive behavior change through posting of relevant contents in the social media.

Every year, the number of LGUs/LNCs with active Facebook Pages grow, and with the growth in numbers comes the improvement of contents and materials as well.

On 29 March 2022, Nutrition Officer Sheena Marie G. Talle met with the social media pages’ administrators to level off contest mechanics, with focus on the criteria and grounds for disqualification.
