The Nutrition Assessment and Monitoring Working Group (AMWG), during its meeting on 22 January 2018 at the NNC Board Room, discussed the proposed Information and Management (IM) tools to be used by Nutrition Clusters (NCs) in the Philippines during emergency response. Out of the 26 tools from the Global Nutrition Cluster IM Toolkit, seven (7) IM tools were identified applicable for use in the Philippines:
- Survey database in Microsoft Excel workbook extracts information for analysis from the following type of surveys: anthropometric nutrition surveys, IYCF surveys, micronutrient deficiency surveys and other nutrition-related surveys. The potential sources of information are National Nutrition Survey of FNRI-DOST, OPT Plus of NNC, SMART survey and NINA of Nutrition Cluster.
- NC Capacity Map, a Microsoft Excel workbook for conducting capacity mapping of NCs in the areas of community management of acute malnutrition (CMAM) services; human resource capacity; and current resources/ supplies available to provide nutrition services.
- NC Checklist is developed to help NCs at national and regional levels in reviewing their performance in fulfilling IM functions. The tool can also be used for self-assessment and to ensure the consistency and completeness in carrying out an IM function by cluster.
- NINA tool, a two-page paper-based form, provides a standard nutrition assessment for post-emergency/disaster at the barangay/ municipality/ city/ province to determine impact of emergency/ disaster and appropriate nutrition response for the affected population.
- NC Report Forms in Microsoft Excel workbook include various possible interventions and suggested indicators for monitoring. The NC report forms consist of two templates:
- NC Report Form A records information of existing and ongoing interventions for affected individual.
- NC Report Form B consolidates information from NC Report Form A, by evacuation center.
- NC 4Ws (Who does, What, When, Where) in Microsoft Excel workbook is used to gather and analyse information on operational presence of the NC partners and location within an emergency. It enables NCs to help identify potential partners, quickly give a very rough understanding of an ongoing response, and superficially identify potential overlaps or gaps in response.
- NC Dashboard includes five dashboards in Microsoft Word designed using a common template: Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) launch dashboard, NC HRP progress dashboard, CMAM dashboard, IYCF-E dashboard, and Micronutrient programmes dashboard.
