CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) - - This province’s supplementary feeding program is now institutionalized after the Provincial Government of Isabela and the SN Aboitiz Power – Magat signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).
The MOA signing was made between Isabela Gov. Rodolfo Albano III and SN Aboitiz Power - Magat Joseph Yu held at RDET Building of Isabela State University (ISU) - Cabagan campus on December 7.
The implementation of a supplementary feeding program for malnourished children, senior citizens, lactating and critical pregnant women started when Albano served as the representative of the 1st District of Isabela which he continued when he assumed office as governor.
“We have thought that in Isabela, there is a need to strengthen the resistance of the youth and their parents,” Albano said.

TUGUEGARAO CITY, CAGAYAN------ Regional Nutrition Committee Region 02 recognized outstanding local nutrition committees and local nutrition focal persons during the 2021 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony at Piazza Hotel and Restaurant, Gamu, Isabela last 26 November 2021.
After almost two years of battling with COVID-19 pandemic, RNC R02 decided to conduct the 2021 RNAC in a blended approach - awardees and 2 members of the LNC were present at the venue while remaining guests and participants joined via Zoom app or through FB live at NNC Region 02 page. A total of 37 awards were conferred during the 2021 RNAC.
The occasion was graced by regional directors, local chief executives, vice mayors, members of Local Nutrition Committees and other honorary guests.
Dr. Rio Magpantay, RNC Chair and Regional Director DOH-CVCHD, through RNPC Maria Gisela Lonzaga gave opening remarks. Her message emphasized on excelling in performances not because of the awards but the desire to give what the constituents deserve and that the children deserve the best. She expressed her belief that every nutrition worker in the audience desires for a prosperous and productive future the children, the communities and the nation as a whole. She called for everyone to compliment and support each other’s efforts for the future of the children.

CITY OF ILAGAN, ISABELA-------The National Nutrition Council Region 02 in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas (LBP) convened Punong Barangays and Local Level nutrition implementers to a virtual two-part “Regional Dialogue with Punong Barangays: Enabling Nutrition Devolution,” last 18-19 November 2021.
This virtual dialogue aimed to articulate the increased recognition of the PPAN and its connection to barangay nutrition action plans; enumerate the functions of the barangay nutrition committee and roles of Punong Barangays, Barangay Nutrition Scholars, and other committee members in the achievement of BNAP and PPAN targets; identify good practices on managing nutrition programs of high-performing barangay nutrition committees (BNCs) in the area that can be applied in their respective area of responsibility; explain the implications of Supreme Court Ruling on Mandanas-Garcia Petitions on nutrition program management at the barangay; and formulate or enhance existing BNAP aligned with the PPAN; the plan should contain goals and objectives, implementation details, plan for monitoring and evaluation, and budgetary requirements.

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – Cagayan Valley Barangay Nutrition Scholars Federation Inc. officers conducted their last virtual meeting for the year 2021 last December 2, 2021 via Zoom meeting to discuss federation concerns, accomplishments and plans for the upcoming year,.
The federation discussed the a) Financial Statement of CVBNS Federation Inc.; b) Updates on payment of 2020-2021 annual dues; c) 2021 Regional Virtual BNS Conference; d) Updates on Tutok Kainan; e) Plans for 2022; f) Honorarium for officers; and g) CSC Eligibility application.
CVBNSFed Inc. Treasurer Gladys Maramag presented the financial statement of the federation and gave updates on the payment of their annual dues. The federation funds include the annual dues, funding assistance to members, BNS Congress income and others. She also reminded the officers to submit the master list of their members together with the payment of the dues.

CITY OF ILAGAN, ISABELA---------- Around 2,000 members of Cagayan Valley Barangay Nutrition Scholars Fed. Inc., attended the first ever virtual regional congress in partnership with National Nutrition Council Region 2 via zoom earlier this month.
Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs) have been in the frontline in the delivery of nutrition services since the start of the community quarantine due to COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 may negatively impact the health and nutrition of Filipinos especially the most vulnerable groups such as pregnant and lactating women, infants and young children, and other vulnerable groups.
Thus, the BNSs have significant roles in ensuring the health and nutrition of the people in the community. It is important that they are equipped with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to address nutrition problems that may arise in their community due to the pandemic.

TUGUEGARAO CITY, CAGAYAN- BNS Lenie Bulan’s Comprehensive Approach with Results to Eradicate Stunting (#BNSLenieCares) was highlighted during the Search for National Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (NOBNS) earlier this November 2021.
BNS Lenie Bulan from Cabisera 27 City of Ilagan, Isabela hailed as the 2019 Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition (ROBNS) and was one of the six entries all over the country shortlisted and evaluated for NOBNS.
Ms. Maria Cynthia Vengco led the National Nutrition Evaluation Team (NNET) together with Ms. Joyce P. Parco, (IHNF, CHE, UPLB) and Ms. Maria Camille Andrea L. Hari (NNC).
“BNS Lenie is 1 of the 6 outstanding BNS which will be evaluated for their outstanding performance as BNSs,” NNET Team Leader Vengco said.
