TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan,- - Balay ni Ifan media core group welcomed their newest members, the information officers of provinces and cities in the region during the third quarter Balay ni Ifan Media Core Group meeting on 11 August at Taj Hotel and Resto/Bar, Tuguegarao City.
In her opening remarks, Ms. Maria Gisela M. Lonzaga, NNC OIC-nutrition program coordinator, acknowledged the willingness of the information officers to be members of the Balay ni Ifan media core group.
Lonzaga also thanked the members for a successful conduct of the 2017 Nutrition Month Celebration.
“We thank you for your support during the celebration of Nutrition Month last July. We encourage you to continue your actions in promotion of good nutrition not only during July but throughout the year. Let's work hand in hand to fight malnutrition in the region," she added.

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan,- - Donned in their ASEAN inspired attire, NNC R02 and other government and private employees, and representatives from civil society organizations (CSOs) joined the simultaneous nationwide ASEAN landmark lighting at the Tuguegarao City Hall, Regional Government Center, Carig Sur, Tuguegarao City on the night of 8 August 2017 as part of the ASEAN's 50th anniversary celebration.
As a kick off activity, a parade of ASEAN inspired torch was done.
With the theme “Under One Light, we are One ASEAN”, the commemorative event was simultaneously held in 74 key cities nationwide and in the capitals of the ASEAN member-states.
Honorable Bienvenido De Guzman II, Tuguegarao City Mayor, welcomed participants and acknowledged their efforts in attending such significant event. He also encouraged everyone to continuously unite in all undertakings of the Local Government Unit and other stakeholders.

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, (PIA) – National evaluators of the National Nutrition Council (NNC) recently urged local officials here to consider the conduct of a research on the effects of funded nutrition-related programs, projects and activities meant to combat malnutrition in the province.
Ellen Ruth Abella, NNC evaluation team leader, said there is a need to know the cost-benefit of the funds allotted by the provincial government to track how these funds are faring and their impact on the lives of poor villagers.
“This is important so that we can evaluate the effectiveness of our funded programs, projects and activities to our targeted families,” she said during the recent exit conference tendered for the NNC evaluation team at the Pasalubong Center here.
The NNC evaluators were in the province to check the sustainability of the nutrition program implementation in province being a Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) in the Cagayan Valley region.

KASIBU Nueva Vizcaya, July 24 (PIA) – Officials of the Municipal Nutrition Council (MNC) here have found the regular weigh in among villagers to raise funds for nutrition programs and activities.
The monthly regular ‘weigh in’ among its villagers to attain their appropriate nutritional weight per age has brought in at least more than P7,000 to the MNC.
The regular ‘weigh in’ system among the villagers requires P5.00 fee for normal weight plus additional P1.00 for every 1 kilogram of excess weight.
This is part of the MNC’s awareness campaign to reduce malnutrition cases in the municipality, supported by the sangguniang bayan members.

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, (PIA) – The city government here wants to institutionalize its 'Dulog at Dinig' program which aims to bring all basic services to the city's far flung barangays limitedly served due to its distance from the government center.
Conceptualized in 2009 by then Mayor Jose Marie L. Diaz, the program covers all the 91 barangays here bringing social services like health, education, mass wedding, agriculture services and other regular services being offered by the city government.
Paul Bacungan, city information officer, said the city government vowed to continuously implement the program to ensure that all residents here are served and availed of the government’s various programs and services.

The Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya, headed by Governor Carlos M. Padilla recently initiated the ground breaking ceremony of the construction of the Regional Evacuation center at the back of the legislative building last July 3.
It is a nationwide program of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) to put up evacuation centers in all regions as preparation for inevitable calamities that might hit the country.
According to Provincial Engineer Manolo Norial, there will be three evacuation centers to be constructed in the province which include Cagayan, Isabela and Nueva Vizcaya.
“Out of the five provinces and four cities in the region who participated in the bidding, our province is so lucky to be one of the recipients,” said Governor Padilla during the ceremony.
