Odiongan, Romblon -- Upang magsilbing inspirasyon sa mga nanay ang pagdudulot ng complementary feeding sa kanilang sanggol, isinagawa ang Search for Best Infant Feeding Practices (Breastfeeding with preparation of Complementary Foods) Photo Contest sa bayan ng Odiongan, Romblon bilang parte ng pagdiriwang ng ika-46 na selebrasyon ng Buwan ng Nutrisyon noong Hulyo. Nilahukan ang naturang patimpalak ng 25 kinatawang nanay at ng kanilang pinasususong sanggol mula sa 25 barangay sa bayan ng Odiongan.
Mula sa 25 kalahok, nakuha ni Angelie F. Moreno ng Barangay Canduyong ang unang pwesto, pumangalawa naman si Anabel Arcacitas ng Barangay Bangon, samantalang pumangatlo si Ria Fesariton ng Barangay Tuburan.
Sa naturang patimpalak, nagpakita ng mga larawan ang mga kalahok sa pagpapasuso at kung paano nila dinudulutan ng complementary feeding ang kanilang mga sanggol. Kalakip rin ng mga larawan ang paraan ng paggawa ng masusutansyang menu para sa kanilang sanggol.
Pinagkalooban ng premyo ang mga nagwagi mula sa pondo ng Municipal Nutrition Action Office. Lubos naman ang naging suporta ni Mayor Trina Firmalo-Fabic sa naturang aktibidad. (Rubelyn S. Solis / Radyo Natin - Looc)

,Nakatakdang ilunsad ng Oriental Mindoro Media Club (OMMC) ang proyektong, “Search for Best Gulayan sa Bakuran” sa matutukoy nitong pilot barangays sa Lungsod ng Calapan ngayong buwan ng Oktubre.
Layunin ng OMMC sa proyektong ito na maipatupad ang recovery program para sa mga lubhang naapektuhan ng pandemya dulot ng COVID-19, katuwang ang pamahalaang nasyunal.

The unprecedented global social and economic crisis triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic poses grave risk to the nutritional status and survival of young children particularly in low income families. Of particular concern is the unforeseen increase in malnutrition especially for preschool children due to food insecurity, changes in the availability and affordability of nutritious foods, and interruptions to health, nutrition and social protection services.
In crucial and uncertain times like this, the People of Marinduque worked hand-in-hand to fight COVID-19 and its impact to the people and economy. The Provincial Government of Marinduque unceasingly planned strategies and implemented various programs to reduce present cases of malnutrition and prevent increase in prevalence. Through the Provincial Nutrition Office Headed by the Provincial Nutrition Program Coordinator Ms. Rubi C. Apiag, the distribution of complementary foods to children ages 6 to 23 months was initiated with goal to provide continuous supply of food to fill the gaps.

National Nutrition Council – MIMAROPA Region conducted the second leg of the online Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs) Provincial Association Meeting joined by participants from the province of Oriental Mindoro and Calapan City last 30 September 2020 via Google Meet.
Discussed during the meeting were breastfeeding and COVID-19 FAQs for healthcare workers, milk donation policies during emergencies, report on SAM and MAM cases per municipality and city, Regional Nutrition Committee Resolution No. 1, s. 2020, status of FBNS member contributions and funds, guidelines on Medical and Survivorship Assistance Requests and CSC Eligibility Application, submission of nutrition reports, and sharing of activities for October to December 2020.

Quezon City – National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA convened Nutrition Action Officers across the region for a General Assembly on 18 September 2020. NAOs joined the virtual event via Google Meet which started around 8:30 in the morning. The event aims to provide relevant information which will capacitate the local nutrition workers in implementing nutrition programs in their localities and to relay nutrition updates at the local level.

An effective program for agriculture plays an integral role in the overall health and nutrition of every family. With the theme “Batang Pinoy… Sana Tall, Iwas Stunting… Sama All, Iwas All din sa COVID-19,” this year’s Nutrition Month celebration recognized the municipalities of Araceli and Dumaran for their strong commitment to develop agriculture-related programs that are anchored in promoting good nutrition.
Among others, agriculture offers wide opportunities for improving the rate of nutrition in the country. Without agriculture, there is no food that will serve as inputs for ensuring good nutrition to the communities.
