Baguio City - The National Nutrition Council-Cordillera Administrative Region, in partnership with the Cordillera Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) Federation Incorporated (CordiBNSFed Inc.), conducted the 5th Regional BNS Conference Edition last November 11 via Zoom App.
The congress aimed to mobilize the BNSs to implement the programs and projects of Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2017-2022 at the barangay level, enhance BNSs personality/skills, strengthen the provincial BNS federations and the CordiBNSFed Inc. and provide health and nutrition information relevant to this current pandemic situation.

Baguio City - Ifugao State University (IFSU) was hailed as the winner of the Nutri-Jingle 2021 Contest for Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) Season 2.
With a total score of 86.33, IFSU topped the other seven participating HEIs. The university will receive a cash prize of P16,000.00.

Baguio City - The National Nutrition Council-Cordillera Administrative Region (NNC-CAR), in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-CAR, conducted a two-day Regional Dialogue with Punong Barangays: Enabling Nutrition Devolution on November 23 and 26, 2021. Said dialogue was held via zoom and was livestreamed on NNC-CAR’s Facebook page.
The regional dialogue, a roll out of the Virtual Dialogue with Punong Barangays: Enabling Nutrition Devolution held on October 4, 2021 by the national offices of NNC and DILG, generally aimed to enhance further the awareness of Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition in the barangay, the roles and responsibilities of BNC members, and expanding contact points for investment in nutrition. These objectives were anchored on the recognition of the crucial role of the barangays in achieving the targets of the PPPAN 2017-2022, and on the implementation of the Mandanas-Garcia Supreme Court Ruling in 2022.

Baguio City - Nutrition champions in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) were recognized during the 2021 Virtual Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony (RNAC) on October 21, 2021. The awarding ceremony was conducted via zoom and was livestreamed on NNC-CAR’s official Facebook page.
The RNAC is an annual activity organized by the Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) and the National Nutrition Council-CAR (NNC-CAR) which aims to give due recognition to local government units (LGUs), local nutrition workers, and schools divisions who have performed the best with regard to nutrition implementation. The Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI Pro) tool serves as the major basis for the awarding ceremony.

Proclamation No. 160 declares the last week of October as Food Safety Awareness Week to create public awareness and to educate people on food safety in order to reduce and ultimately eradicate food poisoning and other foodborne illness which in some cases resulted to death.
When there is proper handling, cooking, and storage of food, food safety is guaranteed. Having high quality and safe food requires a collaborative effort along the food chain from the production, transport and processing, retail and storage, preparation, and consumption (Food and Drug Administration).
