“Malnutrisyon Patuloy na Labanan, First 1000 Days Tutukan!” will be this year’s nutrition month theme as approved by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) Technical Committee (TechCom) during their online meeting last 5 March 2021.

This is not the first time that the nutrition month theme will focus on the First 1000 Days of life. In 2016, the nutrition month theme was “First 1000 Days ni baby pahalagahan para sa malusog na kinabukasan.” With the current efforts, developments, and innovations on the First 1000 Days of Life Program, the 2021 Nutrition Month theme calls for continued efforts to address malnutrition in the country, which is expected to worsen because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It calls for the convergence of nutrition and nutrition-related programs, projects, and activities both at the national and local government, and for a multisectoral participation and commitment from different nutrition stakeholders to come up with a strategic and synergistic intervention to prevent stunting and obesity.
