03142022 MIMAROPA RBATF 1st Meeting for 2022
The National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA held its first quarter meeting for the Regional Bantay Asin Task Force (RBATF) on 21 February 2022 via Zoom that was attended by various stakeholders from the different agencies in the region.

The objectives and mechanics of Salt Iodization Monitoring was reiterated in the first agenda emphasizing on the need of functional Bantay Asin Task Force (BATF) for a more efficient monitoring and evaluation of salt manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, and establishments. The roles of various agencies concerned in the NSIP were also briefly discussed.

03082022 Nutrition in the Life Cycle of Women
Women are superheroes in the simplest and enormous ways. From being a child who will experience monthly cramps due to menstruation, from being a mom who takes extra mile in caring for her child – staying up to breastfeed the child – even being a worker at the same time, experiences a hard postpartum depression, to being a grandmother to all her grandchildren. Women are indeed incredible.

03012022 NWMC

The month of March marks the celebration of Women’s Month. In the Philippines, the national Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC) has served as a venue to recognize women’s role and contribution in nation-building and as agents of national development and discuss continuing and emerging women’s empowerment and gender equality issues and concerns, challenges, and commitments.

From 2017-2022 the celebration uses the multi-year theme: “We Make Change Work for Women” which highlights the empowerment of women as forerunners of change that is anchored on “malasakit at pagbabago.”

03022022 LNEWS FNS Monitoring of Narra Palawan

 

On 28 February 2022, the National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA conducted a virtual monitoring of LNEWS-FNS to the LGU of Narra, Palawan for the second semester of 2021. The meeting was attended by members of LNEWS Core Group headed by MNAO Ana Paz Cervancia. 

02282022 Healthy Aging Tips on Eating Well and Staying Active
People age in a continuous process of natural change that reflects all the changes taking place over the course of life. During early middle age, many bodily functions begin to gradually decline and as we age, our minds and bodies change.

Older adults become less active, with slower metabolism and energy requirement decreases. Aging is also often accompanied with loss of appetite and changes in taste and smell which lead to lower intake of healthful foods.

Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) and Nutrition Cluster members were convened for their first meeting on 28 February 2022 via Zoom. The meeting was presided by RNC Chair and Regional Director of DOH Center for Health Development MIMAROPA, Dr. Mario S. Baquilod and was attended by 21 members and representatives from 15 agencies.
