Realizing the importance of maternal nutrition as part of the First 1000 Days (F1KD) of life, the municipality of Lakewood conducted a month-long supplemental feeding to the 135 pregnant mothers of their 14 barangays during this month of December. This initiative of Lakewood aims to guarantee that pregnant women, especially those who are nutritionally at-risk, will receive adequate nutrition to ensure safe and healthy delivery of the baby and to prevent early onset of malnutrition and its consequences.

The government, through the Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DA-BFAR), is set to further develop the country’s aquaculture industry through the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act or Bayanihan 2’s stimulus package.
The stimulus package worth Php 500 million, which will fund culture of certain fish and aquatic species with good market potential such as glass eels, sea urchins, and seaweeds; and establish multi-species hatcheries across the country, among others, is projected to boost aquaculture production by 9.6 thousand metric tons. This will augment and open up more livelihood opportunities for fisherfolk, particularly fish farmers.

Part of the 3rd Management Conference held on 15 to 17 December 2020 was the 3rd Quarter Webby Awards conducted virtually via Zoom on 17 December 2020 where the National Nutrition Council Region 9 was awarded AGAIN as the winner for the NNC-Q Webby Award for the Highest Number of Articles Posted. NNC 9 posted in the regional webpage 27 articles for the 3rd quarter.

As we are nearly leaping to another year, the fight against the prominent coronavirus disease in Zamboanga Peninsula (ZamPen) is not yet over, rather 'overwhelming’ increase of cases is being expected if people remains reprimanded and take the public health protocols for granted this holiday.
"There is still continuous growth of COVID-19 cases seen in different areas, signaling the start of a surge,” said by Dr. Mary Rose Rendon of Department of Health (DOH)-9 during the Joint Regional Inter-Agency Task Force – Regional Task Force (RIATF-RTF) COVID-19 meeting held recently.
"If not mitigated, this will lead to a sharp spike of cases during and after the holiday,” she added.
