Article Training on Enhancing Documentation Skills of NFPs2 June 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – A total of 37 local nutrition focal points from various local government units (LGUs) in Region X attended the Training on Enhancing Documentation Skills of Local Nutrition Focal Points (LNFPs) held on 1 June 2022 at Chali Resort and Conference Center, Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City.

The design and the conduct of the one-day training was spearheaded by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) X through the leadership of Ms. Gladys Mae S. Fernandez, Nutrition Program Coordinator.

Importance of documentation skills, enhancing core documents of the Local Nutrition Committee (LNC), and tips on good record keeping were discussed by NNC X’s Nutrition Officers (NOs). Specifically, below were the sessions covered:

Infographics TK Advocacy Meeting Orientation31 May 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – As the Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program (TK DSP) prepares to roll out in Lanao del Norte Province, the National Nutrition Council (NNC) X continues its social preparations.

Provincial Nutrition Focal Point (PNFP) Lizelle L. Bete conducted another session of TK DSP and SMS Reporting System orientation to program recipient barangays of the municipalities of Sultan Naga Dimaporo and Kolambugan last 19-20 May 2022 and in municipalities of Kapatagan and Tubod last 26-27 May 2022.

The meeting was attended by the Municipal Nutrition Action Officers (MNAOs), Punong Barangays, Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs), Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), and nutrition workers from the municipalities visited.

FINALLL TK DSP infographics24 May 2022, Cagayan de Oro City - The National Nutrition Council’s (NNC) Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program (TK DSP) fully implemented its second Phase of the program. A total of 1,679 stunted and wasted 6-23 months old children are the beneficiaries from the same covered LGUs in the Phase I implementation.

As part of its continuing implementation of the program, Phase II of TK DSP is now underway of its bi-weekly distribution of the Ready-to-Eat (RTE) food commodities, and actual feeding of the beneficiaries.

15 World No Tobacco DayIn 1987, the World Health Organization's Member States established World No Tobacco Day to raise global awareness of the tobacco epidemic and the dispendable death and disease it causes. The World Health Assembly legislated Resolution WHA40.38 in 1987, designating 7 April 1988 as "a world no-smoking day," and Resolution WHA42.19 in 1988, designating 31 May as World No Tobacco Day every year.

This annual celebration educates the public on the dangers of using tobacco, and what people around the world can do to claim their right to health and healthy living and to protect future generations.

According to Department of Health Secretary Francisco T. Duque III, about 110,000 Filipinos die each year as a result of illnesses and complications induced by tobacco usage. He also emphasized that tobacco smokers have a higher risk of getting severe COVID-19, according to new studies and evidence.

FINAL 14 Q2 Monitoring Radyo Kalilang23 May 2022, Cagayan de Oro City – The National Nutrition Council Region X conducted the 2nd Quarter Nutriskwela Community Radio Station monitoring at Radyo Kalilang DXNN 104.9 FM radio station located at the Integrated Bus Terminal, Kalilangan, Bukidnon last 20 May 2022. Nutrition Officer I Vazamija Therese A. Villasi facilitated the monitoring.

Station Manager Rutchel Alicer and Public Communication Bureau of Bukidnon Province Jayniel Mahinay were present during the monitoring. Mr. Mahinay is one of the proposed personnel to be hired, along with four (4) others when the newly elected officials assume office on June 2022.

Malaybalay City Search for Outstanding G4 Barangay and Household27 May 2022 (CNPC Jezza Niña Marie Vega - Malaybalay City) Inadequate dietary intake has been identified as one of the immediate causes of malnutrition. To ensure the improved nutrition outcomes and achieve food security in the households and community levels, the City Government of Malaybalay through the City Health Office-Nutrition Section geared towards appropriate and timely nutrition interventions.

The City Health Office-Nutrition Section conducted a city-wide search for "Outstanding G4 Barangay and Outstanding G4 Household," rural and urban categories, in accordance with Regional Nutrition Committee X Resolution No. 5, s. 2016, entitled “Reviving the Garden of Go, Grow and Glow (G4) Initiative” and Regional Development Council X Resolution No. 7, s. 2018, entitled "Supporting the Revival of the Garden of Go, Grow and Glow (G4) Initiative." The weeks-long search, which took place from 16-20 and 23-25 May 2022, involved all 46 barangays.

The City G4 Evaluation Team was composed of City Nutrition Program Coordinators, CNPC (Poblacion I Dist.) Maria Melita Rosalejos, CNPC (Poblacion II Dist.) Jezza Niña Marie Vega, CNPC (Highway Dist.) Rhea Bentulan, CNPC - Basakan Dist. Cyril Yell Sanchez, Malaybalay COBNS Jeycel Lumalang, Nutrition Staff John Mark Hiponia and DOH-NDDP Genelyn Esquillo.

The City Health Office-Nutrition Section has allocated substantial funds for the cash award and plaques of recognition/appreciation of the winners as well as consolation prizes to the non-winning entries. The awarding will be on the City Nutrition Month Culmination Day this coming July 2022.
