Magnum Radyo Medico airs every Saturday, 5:15 – 6:00 PM and discusses health and nutrition related topics. NO III Helen G. Alferez and NO I Shiella Rose D. Cunada also served as resource persons during the interview.

The NNC X team underscored the health, social and economic benefits of exclusive breastfeeding. Emphasis was also placed on breastfeeding as one of the 10 Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos. Exclusive breastfeeding was also linked to nutrition management in emergencies in line with the 2014 Nutrition Month Celebration. srdc

16 June 2014 – The Search for 2013 Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (ROBNS) of Northern Mindanao is finally over. Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) chaired by Ms Marietta V. Deiparine finally declares Ms Lotis L. Okit of Barangay Kalasungay Malaybalay City as the 2013 Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (ROBNS) of Northern Mindanao. Ms Okit garnered the highest final score of 98.0% and bested among the other six contenders from the Province of Misamis Oriental, Bukidnon, Camiguin and Cities of Valencia, Gingoog and Tangub.

The Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) visited seven (7) regional contenders last April 10 - June 13, 2014. Each contender was evaluated based on performance Criteria (50%), Validation Criteria (40%) and BNS Exam (10%).

The search for 2013 Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (ROBNS) of Region 10 aims to assess the performance of BNSs in terms of their contribution to nutrition program implementation and improvement of nutritional status in the barangay andidentify the strengths and weaknesses of the performance of BNSs.

Napulo ka Talamdan sa NutrisyonThe Regional Development Council (RDC) of Northern Mindanao during its 102nd Full Council Meeting held 19 August 2014 approved the adoption of the 2012 Revised Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos (NGF) and its Regional Visayan Version (Napulo ka Talamdan sa Nutrisyon Para sa Filipino).

The RDC also agreed to enjoin the LGUs and all other development stakeholders, including the government   and private/industry sectors, academe, the civil society and general public to promote organic farming and intake of organic products, as well as encourage regular physical/medical check-up.

Dir. Zenaida G. Gersana of NEDA X presented the proposal to the RDC as the Social Development Committee (SDC) X Vice Chairperson as a result of what transpired during its committee meeting last July 22 . NPC Marissa DM. Navales presented the proposal for the 2012 Revised NGF and Visayan translation adoption during the said meeting as part of NNC’s efforts for a wider and broader adoption of 2012 NGF through the promotion of its visayan translation in the region. srdc

he Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony is the culmination activity of the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) where local government units and nutrition service providers with exemplary performances in local nutrition plan/programs implementation are given recognitionCity of Gingoog, the Municipality of Maramag and 29 Barangays from Northern Mindanao will be honored as the Regional Nutrition Green Banner Awardees during the 2014 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony to be held on September 30, 2014 at Cagayan de Oro City. The Regional Outstanding Baranagay Nutrition Scholar (ROBNS) Award will also be presented to Ms. Lotis L. Okit of Barangay Kalasungay, Malaybalay City during the event.

Malaybalay City and the Municipalities of Libona and Kadingilan, Bukidnon will receive Award of Merit for sustaining the effectiveness and efficiency of nutrition programs as Nutrition Honor Awardees.

Maramag, Bukidnon was endorsed by the Regional Nutrition Committee as contender to the Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) being a three-time recipient of The Regional Green Banner Award (2011-2013).

NPC Marissa DM. Navales’ courtesy call to Governor Mohamad Khalid Dimaporo last July 10 opened a room for Lanao Del Norte (LDN) to address its nutrition situation. The 2011-2013 OPT Results and Ranking of LDN revealed that it ranks highest among provinces in terms of prevalence of undernutrition. The data also showed that two to three municipalities of the Province are included in the Top 10 Nutritionally Depressed Municipalities in Northern Mindanao for the past three years. NPC Navales suggested data validation in terms of appropriateness of weighing tools used and competencies of service providers conducting the weighing. Governor Dimaporo makes a prompt action to address this nutrition concerns by requesting NNC X to assist LDN in undertaking the provincial nutrition planning workshop. Governor Dimaporo further requests that the planning workshop be immediately set in August. srdc
