Barili, Cebu – The National Nutrition Council 7 with its media network; Media Information Network for Nutrition and Development 7 (MIND 7) and one of its NutriSkwela Community Radios; DYNE Radyo Kahimsug successfully launched its Internet radio named “Radyo Kahimsug Goes Online” on 16 September 2015 at the Cebu Technological University – Barili Campus, Barili, Cebu.
Municipal Mayor Teresito P. Mariñas of Barili, Cebu with NPC Dr. Parolita A. Mission of NNC 7 graced the event along with members of the Barili LGU, CTU Barili Campus and members of MIND 7. Dr. Mission, in her programme message thanked everybody behind the success of the internet radio launching.
The internet radio is a collaborative project of NNC 7 and MIND 7, and is hosted by DYNE Radyo Kahimsug with its aim to widen the dissemination of the existing nutrition – related programs in the region through allowing it to reach the world – wide web. Aiming to provide a wide selection of programs from drama series, interactive game shows, interviews and nutri – recipes for netizens while browsing their favourite sites and social media accounts, this new venture is an effort to open up to a wider audience.
The launching is a back to back event with the induction of newly elected Community Radio Council officers and members of DYNE Radyo Kahimsug with NPC Mission as the inducting officer for the officers and Hon. Mariñas for the new members. Radyo Kahimsug is one of the 2 nutriskwela community radio stations of the National Nutrition Council in the region.
MIND 7 Charter President Mr. Jun P. Tagalog in his message challenged the managers of internet radio to sustain this program and continue giving correct, current and relevant information not only to the Barilihanons but all Filipinos that can be reached by the internet radio.
Cebu City – It was a buzzer beater as the National Nutrition Council 7 races to complete all of its training targets on the last week of September having only two barangay level PGN-IYCF trainings left of its P4 area; Cebu.
Completing one hundred and eighty-two batches over a span of three years and training more than five thousand frontline health and nutrition workers, the PGN-IYCF barangay level trainings ended with a back-to-back events in the municipality of Consolacion and Compostela in the Province of Cebu.
Other than the PGN-IYCF trainings, the region has also completed trainings on Basic Barangay Nutrition Scholar Course, Training of Trainers (16-20 March 2015), Nutrition Program Management (24-28 August 2015), and Nutrition in Emergencies for both the Regional Nutrition Cluster and the Bohol Provincial Nutrition Clusters on 14-17 September 2015 and 7-11 September 2015 respectively.
As part of NNC’s capacity development program, training of nutrition workers is a key strategy to ensure that the human resources in the region is equipped with up-to-date knowledge and skills to run the nutrition program.//NGS
Cebu City - “Vegetable Hour”, a simultaneous planting of vegetable in schools, communities, hospitals and prisons region-wide will mark the opening of the Nutrition Month2012 observance. This will be held at 8:00-9:00 a.m. on 02 July 2012. This is in line with the 38th Nutrition Month celebration this July which carries the theme “Pagkain ng gulay ugaliin, araw-araw itong ihain!” NNC 7 Nutrition Program Coordinator Parolita A. Mission said that four key areas were identified for the launch including the Mabolo Elementary School for school setting, Operation Second Chance for the prison, Barangay Mambaling for community setting and Vicente Sotto Medical Memorial Center for hospital setting.
Officials of the Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) with RNC Chair and DOH-CHD 7 Regional Director Asuncion M. Anden, Media Information Network for Nutrition and Development 7 (MIND 7) President Mr. Jun P. Tagalog, Cebu City Nutrition Council (CCNC) with its Chair and City Mayor Mike Rama and Mission will lead the ceremonial planting in Mabolo Elementary School together with the school children.
Other officials of RNC, CCNC and MIND 7 will also lead the planting of vegetables in Operation Second Chance, Barangay Mambaling and V. Sotto Memorial Medical Center. The vegetable gardens will then be endorsed to the school principal, warden, medical center chief and punong barangay, respectively. During the Vegetable Hour, vegetable cooking demonstrations and fun learning activities will be organized.
Tagalog said that to prepare for the special hour of actual planting of veggies, the Media Information Network for Nutrition and Development 7 (MIND 7) held a countdown in print, broadcast and social media through its members and media friends starting 24 June. The count-down will last until few seconds prior to 8:00 o’clock of 02 July.
To encourage greater participation of the general public and provide easy access for seeds and seedlings, a distribution center will be set-up starting 29 June until 02 July. The center is located at the Upper Ground Floor (beside National Bookstore), SM City Cebu, NRA, Cebu City. The municipal, city, provincial and regional agriculture offices will also provide the necessary seeds, seedlings and cuttings to interested participants of the Vegetable Hour.
The Vegetable Hour is organized by the National Nutrition Council 7 thru the Regional Nutrition Committee, Cebu City Nutrition Council and the MIND 7.
All readers, listeners, netizens are enjoined to participate in the vegetable hour by planting vegetable in all possible areas in their homes, schools and communities through urban, or fence gardening, gardening in water-logged areas, natural canning, magic square garden or hydroponics. Formatted to include a short nutrition-infused drama and followed by a technical discussion with key nutrition authorities in the region, the program aired over DYHP-RMN 612 khz every Saturday 5:30-6:00 PM. "Grasya ang Katugbang" is the Cebuano version of the popular “Katumbas ay Biyaya” is now on its 7th season and has a major following among the listenership of Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental, Siquijor and other parts of Visayas and Mindanao. DYHP maintain its standing as the number one AM station in Cebu based on the latest Nielsen survey.
CAMMA is an event conducted every two years that aims to encourage people in the media industry in the archdiocese of Cebu to advocate God-centered messages and Christian values in their programs by recognizing valuable and outstanding works through varied media.
Cebu City - The National Nutrition Council had its eyes on vegetables for the upcoming 38th year commemoration of Nutrition Month. The celebration will focus on the importance of vegetables in human lives in line with the theme “Pagkain ng gulay ugaliin, araw-araw itong ihain!”. Themonth-long observance will be kicked off with a simultaneous planting of vegetables in schools nationwide on 02 July 2012.
In Central Visayas, there will be a synchronized vegetable planting in schools, communities, hospitals and prisons dubbed “Vegetable Hour” at 8:00-9:00 a.m. on 02 July 2012. Four key areas were identified for the launch including the Mabolo Elementary School, Operation Second Chance, Barangay Mambaling and Vicente Sotto Medical Memorial Center. There will also be a vegetable cooking demo and fun learning activities for children during the Vegetable Hour. This will be followed by aVegetable Caravan passing through all the planting sites, then a Vegetable Parade of day care children garbed in vegetable costumes at the Lower Ground Floor, SM City Cebu and a Launching Program at the Event Center of SM City Cebu, all on 02 July 2012. A Veggie Festival will happen on 04-06 July 2012 at the Plaza Sugbu, Cebu City.
Cebu City – Close to one thousand school children, teachers, hospital officials and personnel, community residents and rotaractors participated in the simultaneous planting of vegetables, dubbed as “Vegetable Hour”, in the four key areas in Cebu City last July 2, 2012 as part of the regional launching event of the 38th Nutrition Month celebration.
The four key areas included Mabolo Elementary School, Barangay Mambaling, Operation Second Chance in Barangay Kalunasan and Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
The vegetable planting in Mabolo Elementary School was led by Dir. Lakshmi I. Legaspi, Assistant Regional Director of DOH – CHD 7 representing RNC Chair & RD Asuncion M. Anden, Dr. Parolita A. Mission, RNPC of NNC 7, Ms. Nenita S. Seno, Regional HDVDP Coordinator of DA7, representing RED Angel C. Enriquez, Mr. Ronald O. Diola, Cebu City Nutrition Action Officer, Dr. Stella M. Ygoña, City Health Officer of Cebu City, Ms. Annabel Lagrosas, VP for Radio, MIND 7 and Mr. Donald C. Crisologo, School Principal of Mabolo Elementary School. NO II Dave F. Bargamento, Ms. Cheryl M.
