Tubigon Bohol CVs contender for the 2nd Year CROWN Maintenance Award

Tubigon, Bohol – Central Visayas’ contender for 2^nd Year Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) Maintenance Award is Tubigon, Bohol. The honour will be given if the municipality can achieve a minimum score of 95% of its 2011 performance. Tubigon won the Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) in 2010 after the three (3) Green Banners for 2009, 2008 and 2007. The municipality was able to maintain its fete in 2011 and given the 1^st Year CROWN Maintenance Award after garnering 90% score for its continued and intensified efforts to improve the nutrition situation of Tubignons through effective management of their local nutrition program.

Cebu City – Ms. Regina Mercedes Lingaolingao’s Mixed Vegetable Omelet got the judges’ nod and won the coveted first prize during the Regional Vegetable Recipe Development Contest cook-off dubbed “NUTRI-CHEF CHALLENGE”. The Nutri-Chef Challenge was held on 23 April 2012 at the Plaza Sugbu, Cebu City. Her winning recipe with squash, carrots, chayote, malungay and egg as main ingrediets bested all the other seven finalists. She took home with Php10,000.00 cash prize and gift packs. The judges gave her and her recipe a score of 91.67%.

New RNC Chair and CHD 7 RD Asuncion M. Anden convenes 1st Central Visayas RNC Full Committee Meeting Cebu City –The 1^st RNC Full Committee Meeting s 2012 of Central Visayas was convened by the new Chair and CHD 7 Regional Director Asuncion M. Anden on March 30, 2012 at the Board Room A, Club Ultima, Cebu City. During the meeting, the following resolutions were discussed and approved: 1) RNC Resolution No. 012-01 “Approval of the Central Visayas Regional Nutrition Strategic Plan 2012-2016”; 2) RNC Resolution No. 012-02 “Approval of the Proposed 2012 Central Visayas RNC Workplan”; 3) RNC Resolution No. 012-03 “Approving the Proposed Simultaneous Conduct of the 2012 Monitoring and Evaluation of the Local Level Plan Implementation and Evaluation of Nominees to the Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholars Award”; 4) RNC Resolution No. 012-04 “Adopting the implementing guidelines on Operation Timbang Plus”; 5) RNC Resolution No. 012-05 “Expressing Gratitude to the DSWD for providing fund support to the Media Learning Visit in Bohol”; 6) RNC Resolution No. 012-06 “Requesting Membership of the National Nutrition Council Regional Office in the Social Development Committee of the CV Regional Development Council and as a non-voting member of the Regional Development Council” and 7) RNC Resolution No. 012-07 “Approving the proposed activities for the 2012 Nutrition Month Celebration”.

NNC 7 organizes a Thank You Celebration for RD Madarieta

Cebu City - To celebrate the six productive years of RD Susana K. Madarieta being the Chairperson of Central Visayas Regional Nutrition Committee, the National Nutrition Council 7 along with the chair/ representatives of the different Nutrition Organizations converged to have a small send-off party in her honor. This was held on March 6, 2012 at the Board Room A, Club Ultima, Cebu City.

Present during the gathering was Ms. Melinda D. Cañares, chair of the Regional Nutrition Committee – Technical Working Group, Ms. Maria Luisa G. Delantar, president of the Federation of Barangay Nutrition Scholars Association 7 (FeBaNuSA 7) along with FeBaNuSA 7 Treasurer, Ms. Lucia Arellano , Ms. Anabelle C. Lagrosas, VP for Radio of the Media Information Network for Nutrition and Development 7 (MIND 7), Ms. Florita A. Olandria, VP of Nutrition Program Coordinators Association of Region 7 (NPCAR 7)and NNC 7 staff.

Cebu City –A Formal Turn-over of the Chairmanship of the Central Visayas Regional Nutrition Committee was held on March 30, 2012 at the Board Room A, Club Ultima, Osmeña Boulevard, Cebu City in time for the 1^st RNC Full Committee Meeting s 2012. A golden key and NNC banner were used during the turn-over rites to symbolize the change of leadership from the Outgoing chair & CHD 7 Dir. Susana K. Madarieta to Incoming Chair & CHD 7 Dir. Asuncion M. Anden.

Before the turn-over rites, NPC Parolita A. Mission presented the CV RNC accomplishments for the period 2006 – 2011 under the incumbency of RNC Chair Madarieta which focused on the performance of RNC based on its 5 major functions. She capped her report presenting the prevalence of malnutrition in the region which showed a reduction of malnutrition (based on the OPT data) from 9.78% in 2006 to 5.45% in 2011, the impact of all the program, projects and activities of RNC, its member agencies and LGUs in the region.
