TB Nutrition

Cebu City – As we still fight the COVID-19 pandemic for almost 3 years now, other communicable diseases such as tuberculosis (TB) are still present and serve as a threat to every Filipino in the community. The Department of Health together with the local governments continues its campaign for a TB-free City or Municipality. This is in response to the national communication campaign called #TBFreePH.

TB is a contagious infection that attacks the lungs. It can also spread to other parts of the body like your brain, spine and bones. The usual symptoms of a person having active lung TB disease include cough, chest pain, night sweats, chills, fever, loss of appetite, and weight loss.

NAGA 48TH NM

Naga, Cebu Province - The City Nutrition Committee of Naga launched their nutrition month celebration with a Nutri-Walk, plying the major streets of the city. This was held on July 4 and was attended by 150 participants composed of the CNC members, BNS, BHWs, and other City Health Office staff. 

The Naga CNC also spearheaded a Nutri-Talk that expounded on the First 1000 Days and discussed subtopics on family planning, HIV prevention, maternal transmission, WASH, MNP supplementation, immunization, and infant and young child feeding.

Amlan PIMAM

Amlan, Negros Oriental – The Municipal Nutrition Committee of Amlan thru the Rural Health Unit capacitates its health and nutrition workers on the management of acute malnutrition. The orientation on the Philippine Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (PIMAM) was held on 27 June 2022 at the Amlan People Center, Poblacion, Amlan, Negros Oriental. Participants were all the rural health unit nurses, midwives, barangay nutrition scholars, and municipal health officers.

Cebu City - Noodles are one of the most instant foods that are being enjoyed by many because they are inexpensive and easy to prepare that only require you a minute. They also appeal to those people who are on a tight budget. It is also present in relief goods being distributed to the general population during typhoons and during lockdowns during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Instant noodles are no doubt to be tasty and super convenient, but their nutrient content deserves a second look.

Negros Oriental - Maintaining a healthy diet during the COVID-19 pandemic is crucial. Our body’s capacity to prevent, combat, and recover from infections can be impacted by the foods and beverages we consume. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread globally, a threat to human health remains.

A complex network of cells and proteins called the immune system protects the body from infection. Every pathogen that it encounters is recorded so it can identify and eliminate it if it enters the body again. Proper nutrition is vital in combating COVID-19. A well-balanced diet has been shown to improve overall health, boost immunity, and reduce the risk of infectious and chronic diseases in individuals.

Here are some tips to boost the immune system:
