Santa Catalina, Negros Oriental - Barangay Mansagomayon, an upland barangay in Santa Catalina, Negros Oriental, and the last barangay border to Pamplona, Negros Oriental had a festive celebration of Nutrition Month on 15 July 2022.
The Barangay Nutrition Committee (BNC) headed by the very supportive Punong Barangay Hon. Charito A. Yape, with the Barangay Nutrition Action Officer and Rural Health Midwife Rica A. Torres, Ms. Hyacinth Vasquez, RN, Nurse II of the DOH-CVCHD, and the committee members initiated the event as they took the chance to celebrate it in a new normal way where events like this are already permitted.

Valencia, Negros Oriental – NNC 7 reminds the members of the Barangay Nutrition Committee (BNC) on their roles in nutrition program. This was emphasized during the BNC meeting held at the Barangay Hall, Bongbong, Valencia, Negros Oriental on 20 May 2022, with the purpose of reactivating the nutrition committee and planning for the upcoming Nutrition Month Celebration.
Nutritionist-Dietitian II Niña Estela Lindsay Romero of DOH CV CHD/NNC 7 during the meeting discussed the overview of the barangay nutrition committee and its vital roles in addressing hunger and malnutrition in the locality with emphasis on the preparation of a nutrition action plan complementary to and integrated with other plans of the local government unit and higher level plans; adoption and financing of the plan; coordination of nutrition and nutrition-related activities of member agencies and other agencies; monitor of nutrition and related activities of member agencies and other agencies involved in the nutrition program; and mobilization of resources to ensure that the plan is implemented.

Cebu City – On 16 July 2022, the Ani ug Kita Season 3 TV Talk show of the Department of Agriculture – Central Visayas (DA 7) featured nutrition in line with the celebration of the 48th Nutrition Month.
The show anchored by Dr. Melquiades Ibarra, DA 7 OIC-Administration Chief is co-hosted by Ms. Cheryl Dela Victoria DA 7. NNC 7 Information Management Officer Mr. Gabe Henriel Sucalit served as its resource person. A highly informative episode that talked about the relevance of proper nutrition to the human body, and tackled misinformation about diet, and therapeutic diets.

Badian, Cebu – The municipality of Badian, 98 kilometers southwest of Cebu City planned to culminate their month-long celebration of the 48th Nutrition Month with Tabo sa Badian. The Tabo held on 29 July 2022 at the NFA grounds showcased the produce of farmers of the municipality. The Badian Tourism Office took charge of the activity including the preparation of the short program and awarding of the winners of the contests.

Badian, Cebu - Badian is one of the municipalities in Cebu province actively participating in the campaign for nutrition every year. Though the last two years they only have limited activities due to pandemics, this year they conducted a month-long activity to campaign for proper nutrition.
On the first day of July, they started the celebration with a motorcade from Badian Training Center to the boundary of Moalboal and Alegria. It was participated by representatives from the Municipal Nutrition Committee including the Rural Health Unit Badian, Mayor’s office, Department of Agriculture, St. James Academy, National Food Authority, Badian District Hospital, Bureau of Fire, Philippine National Police, Disaster Risk Reduction Management, daycare workers and Barangay Nutrition Scholars.

Cebu Province - Every month of July the country celebrates the Nutrition Month to raise awareness among Filipinos on how proper nutrition play a great role in maintaining a healthy body. Nutrition awareness is not only the responsibility of health sector, but it is a multi-sectoral effort. Different stakeholders have their respective roles to play in the campaign for good nutrition.
What or who are the stakeholders? We have the national government agencies, local government units, private sector, media, civil society, academe, and we as individual and our families. Our local and national government agency have important role and influence; they are responsible for developing and strengthening the policies for nutrition.
