And a lot of studies have shown that a lot of people spend a good amount of time on social media, capping off the popularity of this medium in recent times.

Siquijor Province - Siquijor Province has implemented the Dietary Supplementation Program which aims to supplement the nutritional intake of the vulnerable groups by providing 1/3rd of their dietary needs particularly “children in food-insecure households.”

This year, the Provincial Nutrition Committee with PNC Secretariat headed by the Provincial Nutrition Program Coordinator Pamela Ida P. Dominguez, adopted the Tutok Kainan Supplementary Program strategy where-in, the program prioritizes nutritionally at-risk pregnant women and children 0-23 months in the reduction of stunting and underweight prevalence in the province by improving the quality and quantity of food and nutrient intake of these target groups.

Vallehermoso Hypertension

Negros Province - The Municipal Nutrition Committee of Vallehermoso spearheaded by the Rural Health Unit (RHU) celebrated the Hypertension Awareness Month thru a lecture on cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk assessment and sharing of hypertensive diet. The activity was held on 23 May 2022 at RHU conference room.

 Immunized

Siquijor Province - Harmful organisms such as germs, bad bacteria, and viruses are all around us. If our body’s immune system is low, our body is vulnerable to these harmful organisms that can lead to disease and death.

One way to protect our body from these bacteria and viruses is through immunization. Immunization is a major human right and an essential part of primary health care. It is considered one of the best health investments in which a person is protected and resistant to certain harmful bacteria and viruses by administering a vaccine that contains a weak and sedentary strain of a certain harmful organism.

2022 Toledo CityToledo City - The Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team composed of PAN Cebu Chapter Ms. Piladelfa S. Gaviola, NEDA Ms. Kristine S. Jocson, FeBaNuSA 7, Inc. Ms. Evangeline S. Cardenas, CDU ND Alumni Mr. Noah Vincent D. Gallo, DOH/NNC ND II James Aaron S. Perez, and RNPC Dr. Parolita A. Mission visited the mining city of Cebu - Toledo City for the annual MELLPI Pro.

The group after being briefly welcomed by CNPC Belinda Cavan and other members of the CNC went straight to the coastal barangay, Barangay Cabitoonan where they were greeted by Brgy Captain Gerardo M. Lazarte. The team appreciated the barangay’s support in their local nutrition programs. After monitoring, the team then went through the roads of Atlas Mining Corporation to reach the geographically isolated and disadvantaged area, Barangay Biga. The team then evaluated the barangay’s nutrition program, the RNET recommended to Brgy Captain Pedro H. Sepada Jr. as BNC Chair to tap and partner with the Atlas Mining Corp for additional resources. When the team finished their visit in Barangay Biga, they then went to another GIDA area, Barangay Loay overlooking the famous Biga Pit. Ms. Piladelfa S. Gaviola of PAN Cebu Chapter appreciated the barangay’s effort and implementation of nutrition activities. The team concluded their barangay visits and was grateful for the City Nutrition Committee thru CHO Dr. Che Bautista, CNPC Cavan, and the city nutrition office admin and staff for accompanying them throughout the barangay visits.

Amlan heroes

Amlan, Negros Oriental – Amlan is always ready to fight against malnutrition, and to help with this battle, they have conducted a Barangay Nutrition Scholars Refresher Course. The activity which was attended by 13 participants was held on 19 April 2022 at the Smoking Cessation Clinic, Rural Health Unit, Poblacion, Amlan, Negros Oriental.
