New normal

Cebu City – Focusing on the resiliency of nutrition service implementation, the National Nutrition Council Region VII (NNC 7) calls on partners and stakeholders to scale up nutrition implementation to cope with the impact of COVID-19’s new normal in this year’s nutrition month celebration.

Now in its 48th year, the 2022 Nutrition Month Celebration in Central Visayas, centered on the theme “New Normal na Nutrisyon, Sama-samang Gawan ng Solusyon!” will be officially launched on 01 July 2022 at SM City Consolacion, Consolacion, Cebu.

The theme aims for a collective effort to improve nutrition in the future; specifically, to raise awareness of the importance of nutrition in building resilience and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, stimulate discussion of stakeholders on scaling up nutrition interventions and engage the public to promote nutrition.

New Normal Services

Cebu City – It's out with the old and in with the new for nutrition services as the National Nutrition Council embraces the new normal in its 48th Nutrition Month Celebration with the hashtag #NewtritionMonth2022

Focusing on the theme “New Normal na Nutrisyon, Sama-samang Gawan ng Solusyon!”, the 2022 Nutrition Month emphasizes the importance of nutrition in building resilience and recovery from the pandemic, the National Nutrition Council hopes to come into agreement with partners and stakeholders on key actions to build back better the design, delivery, and scale-up of nutrition interventions.

The Central Visayas Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) and its technical working group are set to launch this year’s Nutrition Month showcasing new normal services that were tweaked from existing nutrition programs to cope with the changes brought about by living with COVID-19 as new normal.

Smoking and Nutrition

Cebu City – Smoking is widespread in all countries of the world. The Philippines is not exempted. Along the streets of Cebu City, you can see people smoking outside the establishments, whether young or old, male, or female. Based on the Department of Health, there are currently an estimated 1.3 billion smokers in the world, with 4.9 million people dying because of tobacco use in a year.  If this trend continues, the number of deaths will increase to 10 million by the year 2020, 70% of which will be coming from countries like the Philippines.

Cebu City- Conducted annually to campaign for the dissemination of correct health and nutrition information, the National Nutrition Council Region VII (NNC 7) is once again, set to launch this year’s Nutrition Month Social Media Campaign with a localized hashtag #NewtritionMonth2022.

Emphasizing on the need to build public awareness of the importance of nutrition in building resilience and recovery from the pandemic, NNC 7 hopes to gain a wider coverage by taking advantage of the popularity of social media outlets primarily Facebook (click here for NNC 7’s Facebook page)

With an exciting line-up for said social media campaign all focusing on this year’s Nutrition Month theme: “New Normal na Nutrisyon, Sama-samang Gawan ng Solusyon!”, shall include a reel making contest for a more creative way of nutrition information dissemination, an infographic contest to help netizens visualize nutrition information better and the second season of the Idol ko si Nanay Nutrition School on Air (via Facebook).

48th Anniv NNC

Cebu City - NNC Region VII enthusiastically joined the celebration of the National Nutrition Council’s 48th Founding Anniversary on 24 June 2022 with a theme “NNC @48! stronger and better together”

Presidential Decree No. 491 also known as Nutrition Act of the Philippines was promulgated and put into order the creation of the National Nutrition Council (NNC) as the highest policy making and coordinating body on nutrition in the country. NNC is composed of a governing board that is chaired by the Secretary of Health and the NNC Secretariat as its executive arm. The governing board of NNC composes of 10 government organizations and three representatives from the private sector.

HRH PIR

Cebu City - The National Nutrition Council Region VII and the Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development jointly assessed the performance of Human Resources for Health in Nutrition under the Nutritionist-Dietitian Development Program during the mid-year program implementation review (PIR) held virtually on 24 June 2022.

NNC 7 facilitated the online mid-year review and was attended by 16 PS contractual nutritionist - dietitians assigned all over Central Visayas. The PIR was paneled by Mr. Mark Quilates, RN of the DOH HHRDU, and Mr. Carl Te Nutritionist-Dietitian IV for DOH CV CHD and NO III Nasudi G. Soluta of NNC 7.
