Zambonguita, Negros Oriental – Born with the need to promote food security to their far-flung barangays, the Municipal Nutrition Committee {MNC} of Zamboanguita, Negros Oriental set-up a vegetable garden and fishpond among the four geographically and isolated among their disadvantaged (GIDA) barangays.
Food availability is one of the main concerns of these isolated barangays limiting the availability and variety of food each family receives. Hence backyard garden and fishponds are great alternative for them to have a quality and nutritious meals.

Bacong, Negros Oriental – The municipality of Bacong in this province was one of the local governments who received a mentoring and technical exchange services conducted by Human Resources for Health in Nutrition and NNC 7 staff. Held on the 6th to 7th of December 2021, NDs II Karen F. Abe and Annie Claire B. Añasco and NNC 7 NO I Christine April M. Lopez visited the municipality for said services using the Monitoring and Evaluation for Local Level Plan Implementation Pro tool.

Dimiao, Bohol – The financially-challenged residents of Dimiao, Bohol were the recent recipients of the project of International Care Ministries (ICM) Foundation. This was made possible when a pastor residing at Abihid, Dimiao made representation to the Foundation having seen the current health and nutrition situation among the residents in his barangay.
Seventeen participants belonging to the poorest of the poor sector of barangay Abihid were trained on topics on malnutrition, health and different diseases, safe motherhood, childhood growth and development, and injury prevention. There were also sessions wherein the participants were taught on different livelihood programs which included putting up different businesses, community savings, improving their cooking and baking skills. Participants during the sessions were be given different seeds then taught on how to set-up and maintain their backyard gardens in their homes to become a source of both their food and livelihood.

Manjuyod, Negros Oriental--The Municipal Nutrition Committee {MNC} of Manjuyod in Negros Oriental conducted a three-day Nutrition Program Management (NPM) training and planning workshop. The training organized in three batches was attended by the members of the planning core groups of the twenty-seven (27) barangays and the members of the MNC. The training took place recently at the Aroma Beach Resort, Campuyo, Manjuyod Negros Oriental.
The topics discussed were Understanding Food and Nutrition, NiEM Orientation, Parts of the NIEM Plan and Service Package, Integrating Nutrition Management in Local Governance and Development, Nutrition Program Management: Plan Preparation and Adoption, and the First 1000 Days program, among others.

Cebu City – The Central Visayas Regional Nutrition Cluster reminds the different private sectors, civilsociety and other organizations who plan to donate to the affected families or local government units of typhoon Odette not to include milk substitutes, including infant formula, powdered milk, feeding bottles, teats and commercial baby food in the emergency food packs.
The said reminder follows Executive Order 51 commonly known as the Philippine Milk Code of 1986 which aims to contribute to the provision of safe and adequate nutrition for infants by the protection and promotion of breastfeeding and by ensuring the proper use of breastmilk substitutes and breastmilk supplements when these are necessary, based on adequate information and through appropriate marketing and distribution.

Asturias, Cebu – The parents of fifty (50) school children in this municipality were appreciative of the nutrition balancing program. “Sa una, akong anak wala’y gana mo kaon, maskin unsaon og pa feeding wala juy gana ug dili maka focus sa pag answer sa module. Karon, ganado na siya was mo kaon ug sakto na sa oras iyang pag-kaon” says Joy (not her real name) during an interview conducted by the Rural Health Midwife, Ms. Mae Lurleen Maravillas on 09 December 2021. Joy was so grateful that her child was selected as one of the beneficiaries, since then she was able to observe significant improvement to her child’s weight gain and appetite in eating.
