Dumanjug, Cebu – “Take your meals on time to help regulate your blood glucose levels to make the body function properly!” This was the strong message relayed by MHO/MNAO Dr. Josefina F. Malana during the recently conducted symposium organized by the Municipal Nutrition Committee for the diabetics of Dumanjug.
As explained from the World Health Organization; Diabetes, is a chronic-metabolic disease that is characterized by elevated blood sugar levels. Roughly around 422 million people worldwide have diabetes. The disease is also considered as one of the leading causes of death in the world with Type 2 Diabetes as the most common type. As of 2021, there are five million Filipinos suffering from diabetes and 202 of them are in Dumanjug, Cebu.

The National Nutrition Council Region VII team has started its year with their daily Zumba afternoon session. The team will have their 30 minutes to an hour daily Zumba fitness exercise, videos from Zumba instructors serves as guide for the team to follow.

Consolacion, Cebu – Another year has passed since the pandemic started in 2020, and 2021 was solely focused on the vaccination drive for the population, but 2021 for sure was another fruitful year for the National Nutrition Council Region VII. With certainty 2021 was riddled with lots of challenges and came along were opportunities to grow and learn, and 2022 will be no different, and is just about to scratch the surface of bringing more exciting things to look forward.
