Tagged as The City of Golden Friendship for its hospitable, exquisite and friendly “Kagay-anons”, there’s more they could be proud of: Cagayan de Oro City was affirmed as the 2016 Regional Green Banner Awardee in Nutrition for the effective and efficient nutrition program implementation resulting to decreasing trend in the prevalence of malnutrition from 5.26% in 2014 to 2.81% in 2016.
Efforts, dedication, perseverance, unceasing support and commitment of the City Nutrition Committee (CNC) led by City Mayor and CNC Chair Oscar S. Moreno with CNC Co-Chair Dr. Fe C. Bongcas, Kagawad on Health Dr. Ma. Lourdes Gaane, CNC members, City Nutrition Office Staff, BNSs and the entire health and nutrition workforce down to the barangay level brought the city’s first step in their journey towards the Nutrition Honor Award.

Municipality of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon is on their first step closer in reaching the Nutrition Honor Award (NHA), the highest award given to Local Government Units with outstanding performance on nutrition. After maintaining the Green Banner Award for three consecutive years in the region and bags the Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) Award in 2017, Manolo Fortich is now vying for First Year CROWN Maintenance Award.
The inter-agency National Evaluation Team (NET) headed by Nutrition Officer III Maria Cynthia B. Vengco of the Nutrition Surveillance Division of NNC, visited Manolo Fortich on April 9-13, 2018 and validated the 2017 nutrition program performance of the municipality. Other members of the team composed of NO II Racelline Faye Calangi-NSD-NNC; Azucena R. Banga, Youth Servant Leader-San Pablo Apostol Parish and Ramil Deniega from the Office of the Undersecretary for Special Concerns of Department of Agriculture.

February of every year is celebrated as the Philippine Heart Month. Since January 9, 1973 through the Proclamation No. 1096, we had been giving importance to its purpose through strengthening the advocacy of maintaining a healthy heart to prevent cardiac diseases and other heart diseases and promote cardiovascular health.

The National Nutrition Council X has remained true to its commitment and role in walking down the frontiers of educating Filipinos the right nutrition towards optimum health. Efforts in innovating and developing information, education and communication (IEC) materials for better perception among the Filipinos were strengthened to continually promote and reach-out every Filipino leading them to healthier ways.

Misamis Occidental in leadership of the Provincial Nutrition Committee (PNC) Chair and Governor Herminia M. Ramiro with the dynamic Provincial Nutrition Office (PNO) Team lead by PNAO Marichu G. Tijing hammering-out efforts to continually reduce prevalence of malnutrition and decrease and ultimately eradicate hunger. In fact, the province was recently delisted among top poorest provinces in the Philippines based on the data revealed by the National Statistics Coordination Board (NSCB).
The goal of the province in pursuing healthy and progressive Misamisnons is guided by its vision - to be one of the country’s leading agriculture and aqua-based industries, and eco-tourism destinations with God-loving, self-reliant, empowered, healthy men and women in a safe, disaster-resilient environment, fostering sustainable development and governed by a pro-active, gender-sensitive, transparent and accountable leadership.

Being humble, passionate, and dedicated to his work as Barangay Nutrition Scholar of Bagontaas, Valencia City, Alberto O. Jacosalem made him the 2017 Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (ROBNS). He believed that time has perfectly come for him to own the title besting other 9 contenders from 4 provinces and 5 cities of Northern Mindanao. He was also declared as the City Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar for two consecutive years since 2015 to 2016.
