Every February we celebrate the Heart Health Awareness Month and while it’s a good practice to take good care of our hearts in every day of the year, now is the best opportunity for us to focus on holistic ways to combat heart diseases.
Future heart problems can be avoided by adopting a heart healthy lifestyle today and following these friendly reminders:
1. Eat a heart healthy diet. A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can help prevent heart disease.
2. Maintain a healthy weight by doing physical exercises for about 30 minutes on most days of the week. A minute of moderate to vigorous activity can reduce your risk of heart disease.
3. Make sleep a priority! For children, 8-10 hours of sleep is required while for adults 6-8 hours. People who don't get enough sleep have a higher risk of obesity, high blood pressure, heart attack, diabetes and depression.
