IYCF CGS Training make a Negros Oriental ComebackDumaguete City – The DOH-RO 7 came back to Negros Oriental to train a new batch of trainees for the “Training on Integrated Course on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF), and Child Growth Standard (CGS) for Nutrition and Health Workers”. This was held on 13-17 June 2016 at Plaza Maria Luisa Suites Inn, Dumaguete City. The capacity development activity was conducted in coordination with the Negros Oriental Provincial Nutrition Committee.

NNC 7 and MIND 7 awards First 1000 Days Mural Painting WinnersCarmen, Cebu – After the success of the first Mural Painting competition in Bais City, the National Nutrition Council 7 and the Media Information Network for Nutrition and Development 7 with the Municipal Nutrition Committee of Carmen, Cebu awarded this year’s winners for the First 1000 Days Mural Painting contest on 18 July 2016.

Held at the Municipal Gymnasium in Carmen, Cebu, about 40 students from 4 secondary schoolswho interpreted and conceptualized the First 1000 Days Mural together with about 50 others more attended the culminating activity. Present were students, teachers and coaches from Carmen National High School, Cantumog National High School, Cebu Academy, and Carmen Christian School along with the municipal officials and members of the Municipal Nutrition Committee of Carmen.

Tagbilaran City – NDPs and PHAs deployeNDPs and PHAs for Nutrition meet for Performance Reviewd in the regional office of the National Nutrition Council Region 7 and in the provinces of Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental and Siquijor were gathered for the first time this year for a Performance Review held on 08 June 2016 at Reyna’s Haven and Gardens, Tagbilaran City.

Headed by NPC Parolita A. Mission, the activity was held to discuss issues, concerns and barriers in the implementation of their jobs as part of the Nurse Deployment Program (NDP) and Public Health Assistance Program (PHA) as well as to define their roles and responsibilities in addressing the nutrition situation of their assigned province.

More than 1000 Moms and stakeholders attend First 1000 Days NM Launch 2Cebu City - One thousand two hundred forty three pregnant, lactating mothers, caregivers of children 6-23 months and other stakeholders flocked SM Seaside City Cebu Mountain Wing Atrium to witness a one of a kind launching event which involved three simultaneous activities namely a fashion show of designers’ maternity collections, breastfeeding photo contest and a complementary food preparation video contest. “I thought I was attending a popular perfume fashion show in New York” said one medical practitioner attending the event.

The 2016 Nutrition Month celebration in Central Visayas was kicked-off with Nutriathlon dubbed “Fusion of Fashion and Nutrition for Mother and Child #First1000Days” on 01 July 2016 at SM Seaside City Cebu, SRP, Cebu City. The launching event emphasized the importance of the first 1000 days of life. “We want to tell the public that how we nourish our child starting from pregnancy up to the first two years in life plays a vital role in his/her intellectual development and lifelong health.” Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Dr. Parolita A. Mission said.

First 1000 Days of Life 2016 Nutrition Month FocusCebu City – Realizing the significance of proper nutrition during the first 1000 days of life, the National Nutrition Council through the Regional Nutrition Council Region 7 is celebrating the 42nd Nutrition Month (NM) in Central Visayas with the theme “First 1000 Days ni baby pahalagahan para sa malusog na kinabukasan.”

The month-long observance will be kicked-off with the First 1000 Days Nutriathlon dubbed “Fusion of Fashion and Nutrition for Mother and Child #First 1000 Days” on 01 July 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at the Mountain View Wing Atrium, SM Seaside City, Cebu, SRP, Cebu City. This will showcase a fashion show of Designers’ Maternity Collections, Breastfeeding Photo Contest and Complementary Food Preparation Video Contest. Interfaced during the activity are information and service package on the importance of proper nutrition and early childhood care and development in the First 1000 days of life.
