We stick together with our families in anything that come along in our daily lives. As the saying goes “We could not live without our Family”, That is why in a typical Filipino family; we always love, and care for our relatives. And one of the ways to make the family happy is by the togetherness of eating around the dinner table no matter the family size.

And as we celebrated National Family Month this September here in the Philippines; here are five nutritious dinners we can dine together with our family and loved ones.

Valencia, Negros Oriental – Twenty three (23) pregnant mothers from all over the municipality of Dauin, Negros Oriental joined this year’s Buntis Congress held on 02 September 2021. The event with the theme “Chada si Mama” is held in connection with the celebration of the town fiesta.

The local government unit of Dauin, through its Rural Health Unit (RHU), conceptualized this initiative to promote the package of health services a pregnant woman must receive to improve birth outcome. The Buntis Congress is part of the 15-month High Impact Breakthrough Strategies or commonly known as Hi5 of the Department of Health which aims to accelerate the reduction in maternal deaths, infant and under-five mortality, halt HIV/AIDS, and strengthen Service Delivery Networks.

Cebu City – NUTRI-GAME, APIL NA! is a one-hour radio program aired over DYSS Super Radyo every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Anchored by game masters Dr. Parolita “Letlet” A. Mission, Ms. Lesly Comiso-Magalso, and ND II Shaira Camille T. Labastida aims to promote good health through proper nutrition.

The program is an interactive game show aired over RGMA Network that provides additional nutrition information to all its listeners for better and increase health and nutrition knowledge. Started as a 30-minute program, the free airtime provided by network was increased because of insistent public demand.

Make it fresh as possible

Foods that are made from fresh ingredients are most likely to retain the most nutrients. Choice of snacks can be your favorite fruits like boiled banana saba or root crops like your sweet potato. Add a little color to your egg sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber.

Cebu City – NNC 7 staged the 8th episode of Educational Health and Nutrition Information-Sharing Geared tOwards DevelopmenT (e-HISGOT) on 16 September 2021. The event merged three monthly educational programs of NNC 7: the e-HISGOT, Letters for Doc Letlet and May K sa F1K to streamline the region’s advocacy efforts in promoting good nutrition with focus on the First 1000 Days.

The unified virtual program retains the name “e-HISGOT” while using the format of Letters for Doc Letlet and covering the region’s key statement that everyone has a role to play in the First 1000 Days of a child’s life retaining topics of “May K ka sa F1K”.
